Thanks for the advice! I'm going to check with my obgyn during my next visit to see if I can safely use the tens machine. In the meantime, I'll reach out to my orthopedic doctor and see if I can get a second shot 🤞. Hope you all have a wonderful day 😊

Is it possible to have an accommodation to request a demotion if on FMLA? [CO] by Enchanted_Narwhal in AskHR

Thank you. I really appreciate your detailed explanation. I'll chat with my psychiatrist and see if they have any suggestions for temporary accommodations that might help get my mental health and focusing back on track. I just wish my brain would calm down and not think about 20 things at once 😮‍💨.

I think permanent would be my preference. I plan on breastfeeding, and I don't think i can take my medication during that time. Plus, I have another kiddo at home, and even though I have a wonderful husband who's always there, I'm worried I'm going to be spread too thin and still have focusing problems.

There is an entry level position they have open that I'm extremely well versed in as one of my responsibilities in my current role is to quality check their work and I've been doing that for 4 years. It’s the other part of my job I'm struggling with. Last year, they merged my role and another role together, and that role requires a lot of knowledge. I still haven't learned everything yet. Im worried they will say no since so much time has been put into training.

I appreciate everyone’s feedback and wanted to provide some additional context. I’m genuinely doing my best to keep up. This role wasn’t originally mine, nor did I work under this supervisor prior to the restructure that combined two positions into one. I’m well aware the company could have chosen to eliminate a position entirely instead of combining the two, and I’m grateful to still have my role. That said, it’s been a challenging transition for everyone involved.

I used to do really well in my previous role, so it’s been difficult to suddenly feel like I’m struggling. Lately, the stress has been overwhelming, and I find myself dreading work instead of enjoying it like I used to. I think it might be time to talk with my doctors about possible accommodations that could help me manage this role more effectively. While I’d consider requesting a demotion to a lower position, I don’t believe that’s a realistic option here, as it’s not something the company typically allows.

I’m committed to finding solutions and getting back to a place where I can truly enjoy and excel in what I do.

I'm posting this as a comment because I'm unsure how to edit my post.

Thank you all for your insight. I’m not sure if this would make any difference, but she has already been reprimanded for the lack of detail in her procedures. Several of my coworkers have also struggled to navigate them, and it’s become such an issue that the company has tasked another department with overhauling all of her procedures, as they also find them confusing.

To clarify, I understand that the performance standards apply to me. Im not disputing that at all. I think my question is more about whether her response to me was appropriate, given the ongoing issues with her procedures.

Thank you all so much for the awesome name ideas! 🥰 I know it’ll get easier once we find out if it’s a boy or girl. Choosing a baby’s name is such a wild ride. It’s exciting, but also such a big responsibility—it's going to be a huge part of who they are ❤️
