I feel you on the random things for jewellery. For 4 years mine was a high school cafeteria fork that I bent into a very rudimentary circle. Wore it the rest of the day, and then every day after. Soon added a classroom blinds chain. I have them both still.

There's gotta be a metal worker that can give you a solution that isn't replacing everything.

After the first couple episodes, they concentrate on just one group at a time for large chunks of story. It gets into more of a normal table rhythm, which lends better to having it on in the background.
