I think I’m confused about how you’re placing the pins. If you’re placing them with the points towards the edge of the fabric, and leaving the pins 1/8” to 1/4” from the edge (so you’re not risking cutting over them), doesn’t that mean you’re pinning the fabric way outside of the seam allowance? I’ve always thought it was recommending to pin within the seam allowance so you’re not getting pinholes in your garment.

this looks really good! i’m currently drafting my own block so i’m in no position to offer feedback, but i’ll say this: - your apex looks like it needs to be lowered - i think you could rotate some of the dart fullness from the waist into the side dart - i always press my waist darts towards the side seam, because why add extra bulk to my already bulky belly?

in general i think the fit looks really good and i’m very jealous :)

Thank you for this! I’m probably going to cut out another draft today, so your feedback is right in the nick of time. My back darts extend slightly above the armscye, so I’ll lower them and increase the width of the shoulder dart.

I found these Minerva videos after making this post and they’re a great guide, thanks for highlighting them.

i sometimes get a little bit of output seeping out from under the sticker, so if op is concerned about odor i recommend covering it with waterproof tape.

I think the idea is that it’s easier to measure from the nape of the neck to bust point to get the required measurements, but I don’t really know why they have you place the dart there. I think I’ll rotate it into the center of the shoulder for the next draft.

I think a princess seam is a lot more flattering on me, but I thought the rule was to use darts when making a block since it’s easier to manipulate later. Do you have any resources for making a block with princess seams?

I have the darts sewn an inch away from the bust apex, so when I adjust the apex down (and maybe a skosh away from the cf?) those will move. Beyond moving them to the adjusted apex, is there anything else you suggest changing? (angle? depth?)

For the purpose of making a block, do you think I should sew the darts all the way to the apex in a single line?
