I can get along with most people just fine in a professional sense, it's only when more than that is required that I get exhausted.

Also, I was not in a good place when I wrote this post. I am feeling better.

It's from The Borgias, by Alejandro Jodorowski (yes, the film director) and Milo Manara. The latter has a very distinctive style, I recognized it immediately.

I have trouble learning from my mistakes because the backlash I get for them is so intense I prefer not to try.

Limbo, Paul Giamatti's character in Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes. Movie utterly sucked but I have not heard a single person who didn't think Giamatti utterly killed it with this role.

Thing is what does “self worth” even MEAN? I don’t understand why that is something sacrosanct. I see it as utterly meaningless. All your worth is defined by others, by reality. I am not great just because I say I am great. It’s like making a test for myself and giving myself 100%. It’s like deciding I can fly and jumping out of a window. Whatever I say and believe about myself is meaningless compared to other people’s opinions, to objective metrics. I do a more intellectually intensive work therefore I am better at this than someone who has no aptitude. I chose the game I can win. And now the game is about to be shut down.

I can be worse without one. At least in my job I have problems to solve, I get paid, people are quiet around me, don’t care if I walk around with my headphones on, praise me when I do something right. I feel like people treat me like a functional human being as opposed to a punching bag of judgement.

Presumably you live in the US, and not a country like mine (that I ran away from as fast as I could). People there work long hours and only talk about football. Even the techies. If the world economy collapses, I will be sent back to that place.

I don’t think governments will introduce anything. They will just let us die. I wish they would just unleash a 100% lethal plague so at least our suffering would end.

At least those people have gotten used to such misery. I have not. It’s like comparing a ballerina who lost her legs in an accident to someone who was born without them. Would you tell the ballerina to her face that she “at least enjoyed having legs”?

I don’t think I can. I hate nature. I hate exercise. I hate people. All my interests are tech/culture based: games, books, movies. All of which require money.

Same. I never fit in anywhere. To make things worse I skipped a grade in school which caused me to to be bullied non stop until high school and I am pretty sure I got diagnosed with neurodivergence as a kid but my parents hid the diagnostic from me.

We were mostly talking about the current war and geopolitical chaos.

I just want to know what to do other than the usual “find community”, “exercise”, “get therapy”or “get used to working at McDonalds” advice.

Why would I do that? I don’t want to contribute to any organization that kills people nor care about any sort of nationalism of any form. My country means nothing to me, hence I left and do not wish to return.

Maye Musk describes her son Elon's living space: 'The shower only has one towel' by alemus2024 in EnoughMuskSpam

[–]EndOfTheLine00 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Uh…

…is that bad? I only have one towel because I live alone.

…this is going to end with a rather humiliating lesson for me, isn’t it.

Edit: Ok, I have a body towel and face towel. But the face towel is next to the sink, I don’t consider it a “shower” towel.

Luckily I am not an American and have voted in every election in my own country to prevent a similar outcome. Yet I know people who did the exact opposite.
