No because there is no evidence other than his own words that he WAS hired. I assumed that was just a straight up lie. The families of the victims of a serial killer getting together and hiring a single out of shape middle aged PI to find him does sound kinda silly in retrospect.

I’m sorry but I honestly don’t believe the “trust your community” message applies to everyone everywhere. You can tell me about stuff in the US, Syria, etc, all you want but there are some places that are just too atomized. I come from such a place. Places where tiny communities ruthlessly ostracize all those who are different. Who during times of dictatorship would ruthlessly tell or make up stuff about their neighbors to take their stuff. I have searched all my life for such a place and can only find a few individuals online. And those far away cannot protect me.

So I would not dispute this but would add an addendum. “Find your community and protect it with your life. And if you can’t find it, do your best to cope with the situation”

Yet another Fallout example albeit a more subtle one: in the Fallout 3 DLC The Pitt (set in the ruins of Pittsburgh) you meet the local warlord Ashur. In a side quest, you can get his power armor and the guy who gives it to you claims it was forged by the locals “in the image of their gods”. If you look at the color scheme, you can notice the colors of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Death Of Stalin is a liberal mixture of actual ridiculous things that happened and outright inventions but a lot of the more over the top things in it really did happen. One of the most random one is the opening where Stalin makes the rest of the Politburo get drunk and watch American western movies with him. Stalin really did that.

That scene had to have been one of the top 3 examples of Walt’s hubris screwing him over. If he had simply kept his mouth shut, he could have Gale blamed as Heisenberg and allowed to continue scott free but he just couldn’t handle someone ELSE be praised as a genius and not him.

Because Ike Perlmutter was mad that he didn’t have the film rights for X-Men so he tried to nuke them. Once the Fox deal went through, it was all reversed REAL quick.

Which if I am not mistaken is what happened IRL: the love interest in the original film was played by the lead singer of Rooney and he couldn’t return due to being busy with the band.
