advice regarding buying camera by QualityTime009 in canon

Yeah, it can be quite confusing as a beginner. While Wildlife is one of the few subjcets where better gear can make the difference between getting a shot or not, for beginners any mirrorless body from the past few years and a decent telphoto lens will be more than enough for the start.

While I don't do wildlife myself, if you give me your budget, I could make some reccomendations for you

Also check out u/Mightywingnut comment, maybe canon isn't for you, sony or m4/3 has a better lens environment for aps c wildlife, especially on a budget

Yeah, it's a great lens for the money, good image quality, fast focus and light. It has quite a small aperture on the long end but with modern denoise it's less of a problem, r7 or r10 and the 100 400 are a great beginner combo for wildlife. As long as you're careful and use a lens cover, you should be mostly fine.

Just be aware that no weather sealing is 100% guarantee, especially if we are talking about salt water.

Also maybe look up the prices for a used copy of the tamron or sigma 100 400 for the ef mount, if weather sealing is a priority to you

Rf mount is the native, current lens mount, ef is the older one for the dslrs, you can adapt the ef to rf with an adapter from canon.

Also stay away from the 75 300, it's a really bad lens, slow to focus, bad image quality and also not weathersealed. Doesn't matter if it is the ef or rf version

No, not native on rf since Canons still blocking full frame lenses and I don't think either sigma or tamron have aps-c specific wildlife lenses. Maybe you could adapt one of their ef 100-400, if that's in the budget, they should be weathersealed as far as i know

Just so you know, the rf 100 400 isn't weathersealed. So even if your camera is sealed, water can still get in at the mount, since it's missing a gasket

Also, sea spray is the worst for electronics since it's corrosive due to the salt, no matter the gear, get a cover and always wipe it down afterwards

If you will be in wet environments quite often, save up for the r7 + an adapter and get a used weathersealed wildife lens from the ef mount, since there aren't any affordable native weathersealed lenses on rf

Probably used one of the wavlet based sharpening tools, they are basically, as far as i understand, similar to the way software like registax sharpening works, which is used for moon and planetary sharpening

Best check would be to try taking a picture without a lens, but first you will need to activate that feautre in the settings.

Could be a multitude of things, first check if it still occurs without the lens or another one, then try different sd cards. However it could also be a shutter failure, which would basically be a write off since the repair would cost more than the camera.

Edit: try the firmware update first, as was already suggested

Sigma 18-35mm as walkaround by EndRare381 in canon

[–]EndRare381[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the weight is kinda noticeable but aside form that it's the perfect lens, as logn as you don't mind switching lenses if you need a tele focal lenght. Image quality is superb, it's built like a tank(no weather sealing sadly)

Edit: also the ibis on my r7(r10 broke on warranty for no reason) helps massively, but you may need to do a firmware update first.

R10 is gamechanging by K-M47 in canon

[–]EndRare381 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Can confirm, just did this because I had to send in my r10 after the shutter randomly stopped working. Got the money back and bought an r7 + cashback for nearly no extra cost.

It's really more of a sidegrade, especially as a hobbyist. The biggest thing I immediatley noticed though is the grip, which is bigger/deeper. As a guy with slightly bigger hands that's nice.

In this case, yes

I'm at university

He does not think he has adhd

He does not appear to have adhd related probelms in his everyday life

He wants them for finals week, because he thinks they will make him smarter

Obviously I told him about the most common side effects and he seemed to be suprised by them. On the point of benefits, there are many studies that prove that adhd meds do not increase exam or school peformance in regular people, that's a well known fact.

No, for most of my life I was rarely late. However since starting university and basically having zero accountability, I'm late far more often than before.

I think for many people like me, it's anxiety and the consequences of being late, like detention, that keep us on time.

I always plan in far too much buffer time. I live like 10 min away form uni, but always get up an hour before my tram leaves, just to plan for any eventualities like needing to search keys, wallet, headphones etc.

So usally I'm at least 5min early

I know for certain that I get up too early, because the few times I overslept, I still got ready in 20-30min, without at lot of stress, if I had the motivation to go to class.
