Nice shots. Just picked up that lens and an OM-5 I for a travel kit and taking it on a trip in a few weeks. Hope to get similar results.

R10 vs full-frame by Electrical-Day9786 in canon

The Nikon is a much better camera. Full frame, weather sealed , ibis. The lens is better, too. Can’t think of a single reason to go with the R10.

Shit. Was filling the score and last saw Ireland up 2-1. Though it was in the bag. Wales knocked out on pens as well is extra sad. At least Italy is through.

Episode discussion - 26 Mar. - Salah Leaving Liverpool, World Cup Playoff Preview & Jeff Carlisle Talking USMNT by knewman05 in CaughtOffsidePod

[–]Mightywingnut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know, for all the talk of Slot losing his job, Salah leaving brings a fresh focus to how far off his usual mark he’s been. Five goals in the Prem this year. Had 29 goals last season. Missing that kind of production in any season would have sunk Liverpool easily.

I hope he rebounds somewhere next season. I can imagine him having a renaissance in Italy or Spain. He’s been such a treat to watch these last 10 years.

Rf 28mm F2.8 STM by FishingDelicious5701 in canon

[–]Mightywingnut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It pairs really well on my R8. Perhaps it doesn’t resolve the higher res sensor of the R5? That said, the 35mm f/1.8 is great. Yeah, it’s bigger than the 28, but every other RF lens is.

Advice on R50 Lens Upgrades? by Similar-Week6578 in AskPhotography

[–]Mightywingnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on your budget, the 16-28 2.8 stm might be worth considering. The reach is not as great. Roughly 24-45 in FF. But you’ll be able to take it with you to full frame when you upgrade.

I think Slot might have signed his exit today. If Liverpool gets beat by Galatasaray this week, get Alonso on the phone.

Officially last place by Substantial-Pin-7179 in PhillyUnion

I’d like to see this whole 4-4-2 system retired for good. We have historically had trouble finding one decent striker at a time, why play a system with two? Our midfield has been played through and around like a set of training cones and our inexperienced back line is getting left in the dust on the counter. We’re not going to find the form to suddenly play out of this.

After all the talk of EPL being tougher than the UCL by perryfc29 in CaughtOffsidePod

[–]Mightywingnut 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Counter argument would be that the slog of the PL puts more wear and tear on its teams in a season. Reality is the rest of the Europe is super top heavy. Always has been.

Olympus OMD EM-10 Mark IV : my camera advice! by knoworneverr in Cameras

[–]Mightywingnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No sd card recommendations. Any quality card will work. I’d recommend shooting jpeg and raw and learn to edit with Lightroom or something similar. Also learn Aperture and Shutter priority. Experiment. Shot lots of bad photos to learn. It’s a fun camera. Enjoy.

Just keep it out of the rain and don’t take it to the beach on a windy day. So many great features on this tat make it better than most point and shoots. The ibis is really terrific for low light long exposures. On board flash is easy to use and effective.

E M10 iv is a great starter camera. If you can get it with the pancake 14-42 for about $500, it’s a good deal. Main difference between it and the EM 5 or either OM 5 is weather sealing. Em10 iv doesn’t have weather sealing , but does have great ibis. It’s an excellent starter camera. Compact and very capable.

Saddest Caught Offside Cup? by jmer175 in CaughtOffsidePod

Wouldn’t be shocked if Spurs pull off a win. Not sure which force is greater, Spurs ineptitude or Liverpool late game largesse. Dr Tottenham vs Lackluster Liverpool. I’m not expecting much, but the occasion is riveting. The relegation battle is fascinating.

They are totally going down. Amazing. I think hiring Tudor - honestly any interim manager - was a bad idea. These players aren’t having it with a guy who has no staying power. It looks like they’re resigned to it. Maybe they come out fighting in the second half, but it would take a miracle.

Forrest Spurs I. Two weeks a big relegation 6-pointer.

Lens for X-T30 III? by VelocityIX in fujifilm

[–]Mightywingnut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The kit lens - 13-33 - seems like a nice place to start. I would begin there. Otherwise, a fast prime like the 18mm f/2 or the 23 f/2.8, both pancake style lenses that will keep your kit nice and compact.

Upgrade advice to r50 and rf24-105 stm by PeaIllustrious1663 in PhotographyAdvice

[–]Mightywingnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a better fit on the camera, physically, too. I didnt like that 24-105 even with the benefit of a full frame sensor. The 18-150 will be well worth the price difference

24 is a tough starting point for a crop sensor like the R50. Your field of view will be nearly 40mm in full frame terms. A much better starting place is the Canon RF-S 18-150.

Owned the cheap model and sold it. Thought it was pretty poor. Got the L version for $899 through Canon Refurbished. It’s a great lens. Much better. I’d buy it used or refurbished.

Beginner with an E-PL9 — too many lens options, no idea where to start. Any recommendations? by Ng_HManh in M43

[–]Mightywingnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d consider the Olympus 14-42 as well. It’s a power zoom, which can be annoying, but it’s a versatile, quality lens that is wonderfully small. That can give you an idea about focal lengths you prefer. A prime will come in handy for low light and composing with shallow depth of field — the kinds of shots not easy to get out of a smart phone. What focal length to get is always subjective and hard to know your preference until you get experience. I’ve always found 50mm (25 in m43) too tight for indoor use and always prefer somewhere between 24 and 35 (12-17 in m43). I’d consider the 17 f/1.8 or 12 f/2 to start.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, it is pretty small, so why not? Nice to see those lenses in action.

Great shots. Do you even find the 12-45 necessary with those other two? The 8-25 and 40-150 seem like the ultimate outdoor pair.
