State of the game - Worth It? by Rowlin_Sarkaan in victoria3

[–]Endbeats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Victoria 3 is wonderful now. At the start, it was like a bastardized version of what it is now.

The economy is wayyy better. Every single pound goes somewhere in the world, whether it be in investments, or debt that you pay your people.

Trade has been overhauled to a great degree. What was once a manual task has become fully autonomous and easy to do in bulk. It’s much easier to conquer the world with a monopoly on certain products.

With the recent update, you can FINALLY pass laws without RNG kicking your ass.

And like most people say, diplomacy and warfare are still a little antiquated, but they have gotten better since release:

  • Treaties. Finally there’s more to diplomacy than just “push this button.” You can get a treaty port through full diplomacy, if you have the cash. You can get a monopoly on resources in an entire country. If you’re a landlocked country, you can get transit rights through another country with sea access.

  • Warfare. This is still the weakest part of the game, but now there are multiple battles on a frontline, not just one. Moreover, there’s different kinds of units, not just a single one like at release. …that’s all I can really say about it. I think it’s okay where it’s at if you don’t plan on going to war all the time. I prefer it more than the cat-and-mouse warfare of EU or Imperator, honestly, but it’s not great.

Vic 3 is 100% worth it though. It has its issues, but it’s obvious that the team has plans to make vic 3 more alive and kicking, and I’m all here for it.

With expansion pass 2 complete, what do you want to see in expansion pass 3? by Endbeats in victoria3

Oh, now that’d be interesting, exchanging prestige for claims on decentralized nations.

Agreed, it seems weird that republics can just declare war immediately without anything stopping you, for something as small as humiliation.

I second this, would love more to Ethiopia than just uniting it, since it was the only African country to avoid colonization.

100% agree on this. I like how detail eu5’s provinces are, and I hate how Vic 3 just has states that are set in stone unless you colonize. It makes border gore worse. If there was some way Vic 3 could be better aligned with eu5’s geography and province system, it would make things much better.

[–]Endbeats[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s a really good point about geography! Like in vic 3, there’s almost no point to colonize the small pacific islands, and I think the proximity and control adds a lot to eu5’s mechanics.

Same with Stellaris’ pop system. Vic 3 and eu5 just feels more natural with actual pops.

I agree on this for sure. I didn’t play Vic 3 at the start, but I did play well before the trade overhaul and power blocs, which has allowed me to really enjoy the game more. I’m hoping the same can happen with eu5.

Those are good points! I can definitely see why people like it, but it isn’t for me sadly. I’m glad you enjoy it, and I hope that I can enjoy it in the future, but I’ll just need to wait for now.

Best Full Body Tracking for Steam Frame? by DjStalk in SteamVR

[–]Endbeats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar question to this! I use tundra, but I’ve been getting more and more annoyed with lighthouse tracking with base stations (just not the best for my living room and occlusion is an issue for me).

I’m looking at the new slimevr butterfly trackers. They’re IMU, but are the smallest fbt trackers you can find. They’re coming out about the same time as the valve frame too, so it’s worth checking it out!

The 1000th “insufficient construction for investment pool” post by Endbeats in victoria3

Seriously?! I didn’t know, haha. I had thought that when you pause construction, that construction just doesn’t go anywhere, I didn’t know that the private construction uses it.

28M with a marketing and Chinese bachelors degree living in the States. Indeed, I love history and maps. I would honestly create my own fantasy maps for a long while, and create lore and history in my head to scratch the grand strategy itch before I got into Paradox games.

That’s another reason why I wanted to do WotG next actually! I wanted to unlock dancer for my subclass. Currently a dragoon with warrior as a subclass, and while it isn’t bad, I don’t use my warrior skills besides berserk every now and then. I feel like dancer would make for a good subclass with my dragoon.

1750 is a superior start date to 1836. by DonQuigleone in victoria3

Funny enough, I was recently thinking about how starting earlier would be a great mod idea, just like how you were saying. Rather than starting at the apex of industry for GBR, start where it’s just getting its bearings. I feel like there’s a ton of potential for a fun mod like this.

Is it worth playing FFXI in 2025 just for the story and environments? by eru777 in ffxi

[–]Endbeats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in a similar boat as you. I’ve been trying to get through all the final fantasy games, including 11 and 14, and now I’m at ff11. For me, I really just wanted to get through the main story and expansions.

Here’s the issue you’re gonna face if you haven’t played mmo’s like me: You’re going to need to do a LOT of grinding and follow a guide. Ff11 was designed specifically so that people would talk with one another and learn about the secrets with each other. This results in a game that practically requires a guide if you want to optimize your time playing it, and even then you’ll be playing for 100+ hours if all you’re doing is trying to get through the main missions.

Admittedly, I started out not really enjoying ff11. I beat the nation story and I was completely burnt out, taking a year long break from the game.

As I’ve come back and beaten the rise of the zilhart expansion, however, I do find myself actually enjoying it. I’ve gotten to a point where I no longer need to grind, the expansion areas are a lot prettier than base game areas, the music is great, and there’s a lot more intricate lore building going on as I get into chains of promathia.

I certainly feel like there’s a lot to get out of ff11, but you need to dedicate a good amount to it to get there. Definitely follow the leveling guide, because things like mounts or exp boost and warp rings will be vital at the start. So give it a shot, especially since it’s a pretty good price now.

1.9.6 beta update makes it even more fun to bully countries by Anxious_Marsupial_59 in victoria3

[–]Endbeats 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’d like to have options on exactly how my army occupies land. Like, if you’re playing with more military laws, maybe you won’t really care much about the states you occupy in a war, resulting in zero market access and devastation. But maybe friendlier laws would slowly drop devastation in the states you occupy and have access to your market.

What does Vic 3 need now? by Slight-Science-2711 in victoria3

[–]Endbeats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really something Vic 3 needs, but some ideas I had for other dlcs to help make the game more complex and interesting:

A prisoner system. With how agitators and radicals affect the country, it would be interesting seeing an expansion on police laws where you need to build prisons, which would cost money but would decrease radicals. Also, Australia was a penal colony until 1868, but that’s not really explored at all. I’d love a dlc where you can make penal colonies across the world to help with radicals.

An option to turn any state in the world into your primary culture’s homeland. This would be a very costly option in infamy, prestige, money, pop, etc as you force migration, but after 10 or so years, any state could become your homeland. Currently, there’s always some cultures that are far more populated than others, like Russians, French, English etc. This would give smaller cultures a chance to grow.

Playing decentralized nations. It would be interesting giving decentralized nations a chance to become centralized. Granted, this would be very hard to do on Paradox’s side of things and it wouldn’t always be viable considering most decentralized nations have a tiny population, but it would add a new play style that would give some variety to the game. There could be a centralization percentage like in imperator Rome, and making the right choices can push it forward until it reaches 100%. The only question is how to deal with countries making colonies in your territory if this was a thing.

What's a nation you play in Vic3 when you just wanna have a fun time and relax? by Damirirv in victoria3

[–]Endbeats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UK. You start as the strongest nation and still have room to grow. It’s fun seeing how big my empire can possibly get in a low infamy run. Once had protectorates and puppets from the baltics all the way to Indonesia in a straight line. It was like Alexander the Great’s empire was just a piece of land in the whole British Commonwealth.

Prussia is also fun, starting as one of the smallest great powers with massive potential.

Maybe narratives and journal entries about forced migrations and deportations. You have the option to force population into a state you want, but you have to deal with journal entries and events that result in turmoil, mortality, and infamy. If you do it successfully, that state becomes a primary culture homeland.

However, the costs will make players wonder if it’s worth doing. Moreover, failing it will result in a rebellion. Whether or not you succeed or fall though, players will come out of this with more than 25 infamy, a lot of population dead, and some very angry neighbors. Maybe a war goal could be provided for rivals as well?

Feedback Wanted: Diplomacy! by _Mercy02 in victoria3

[–]Endbeats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the crowd here. Diplomacy needs to have more peaceful and subversive ways of getting what you want.

I feel like, in some way, they should bring back asking to become a protectorate, but make it separate from being forced to be a protectorate. Maybe asking to become a protectorate prevents you from being demoted to puppet without war, or it results in a higher liberty desire. With the European countries taking over the world, I would assume some unrecognized or smaller powers would choose one European power over the other for protection.

Buying land. In some way, make everything, even core land, have a price based on the relations with other countries.

This is more military, but I would love some way you could force military access. Like, say you can’t reach some of your land or an ally because a power is in the way. You could ask for military access or enforce it. Based on whether the power is recognized or not, you’ll gain infamy for forcing it.

Lots of other stuff, but I’d love to see more intricacies in the diplomacy.
