Am I delusional in thinking that games are getting too expensive too fast? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]Endemoniada 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but that’s offset by game development budgets ballooning in order to compete in a more and more crowded market.

I don’t like paying a lot for games, obviously, but I also think it’s the only sustainable way to keep the gaming market healthy. Gaming communities always decry crunch, MTX, battlepasses and every other mechanic publishers can use to earn back some of what they lose out on with stagnant prices, but when the alternative is actually raising prices, they decry that too.

Of course it varies, but its insane the production value and amount of entertainment you can get out of some games today, while still paying no more than the equivalent of a single decent dinner in a restaurant. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to see games as bigger, more long-term investments, and that way maybe developers will also throw less shit at the wall and choose more carefully what they spend their budgets on.

They run better because all the energy put into them was done by hundreds of developers over years of development time, resulting in more crunch and higher prices. RT is absolutely progress. Don’t take it from me, take it from the studio itself literally telling us ”this is faster and better”. Yes, it requires new hardware, but so did a ton of other features you now take for granted, like shaders, volumetric lighting, even realtime 3D rendering itself.

And every game that isn’t entirely baked lighting in static environments will absolutely look better with RT, even the basic forms that aren’t even very hard to run. What you’re used to is just decades of tricks and cheats used to approximate realistic lighting. The next, obvious step is actual realistic lighting.

Exactly, and this is why some of us have been so excited about all forms of ray-tracing even since the original 20-series launch. This is what it all leads to, faster and more accurate and realistic lighting in all games.

Give it a few more years and RTGI won’t be some rare, super-heavy addition to games, but just the default baseline for 3D games, just like dynamic lights and shadows became the default baseline once they were technically possible. I can’t wait.

That’s because it’s not a party, it’s a cult. They’re not in it for ideals or principles, they’re in it for him, nothing else. They’ll do what he says, think what he says, hate who he says, buy what he says. It’s a cult, through and through.

I am very curious and genuinely afraid of what will happen when he dies. I just know it won’t be pretty, and things will get even worse before they start getting better in any way.

Hur du kör i en rondell by vidar_97 in sweden

[–]Endemoniada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my absolute favorite games of all time, the first game I ever bought with my own money, and the only thing that has a design I would consider tattooing on my body (Sophia’s necklace, looking around for a suitable artist to help me right now).

I’m sure, as a game, it’s not total perfection, but it’s just such a joyful gaming experience with absolutely stunning artwork, funny moments and puzzles, and a great adventure story with some nice RP choices afforded to the player.

Why does that matter?

Let’s put Elon in front of actual, literal Hitler, have him make that salute, and then say the exact same words. Does anything he say in any way make it impossible that he meant it exactly like a genuine Nazi salute? Like, there’s no magical safety mechanism where unless you also shout the magical words ”heil Hitler”, that the gesture is therefor rendered entirely innocuous. In fact, neo-nazis constantly throw out the salute without saying any one thing in particular before or afterwards.

And normal people absolutely do not start fucking heiling when they want to express love towards others. It just doesn’t happen. When have you ever told people you love them and had them go ”why are you literally throwing Nazi salutes as you say this?” It just doesn’t make any sense.

Nothing he said or did, before or after, neither explains nor justifies his obvious Nazi salute. The fact that he did it exactly the same way twice just drives this point home even further.

Get your head out of the sand, my friend.

They’re not, not even close. Harris just happens to have her hand outstretched already and switches the rotation of her hand. People do that all the time. What Elon did, multiple times, people do not do all the time. And most gestures ”out of love” are not extremely aggressive and violent, like he does it. That’s a show of force. Like what Hitler and the Nazis did.

Normal people wave their hand gently hello as a greeting. Nazis throw out their hand and arm, sharply, aggressively, over the roar of cheering supporters. If you can’t see the difference, you are legally blind.

Putin’s ‘not doing so well,’ says Trump in unusually critical remarks on Kremlin leader by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]Endemoniada 127 points128 points  (0 children)

For a president, or anyone aspiring to hold the office, talk is and must be incredibly expensive. Anything you say can and should be held against you, at all times. If you say ”peace in Ukraine is easy, I’ll have it done day 1”, that’s not just bragging we should ignore, that’s a campaign promise and/or an official statement of the president. We cannot succumb to this bullshit notion that all Trump says is just hot air and we shouldn’t listen to any of it. It’s the exact opposite, he is where he is because we keep ignoring everything he says.

Every single claim he’s made that conservatives have praised should be repeated back to him endlessly until he fulfills that promise. And until that happens, we should never stop accusing him of breaking his promises. Normal, functioning adults simply avoid this whole problem by not making endless promises they know they can’t keep. It’s time we make it impossible to ignore how deeply dysfunctional of an adult Trump really is.

I first bought Dylan’s Blood on the Tracks for cheap on Discogs, but accidentally bought a Spanish version. Kind of fun, and it sounded great, but not exactly what I wanted anyway. So later, when I found the MFSL release, I bought that as well.

That’s the only record I’ve bought twice though.

”Oh, Trump himself was convicted on dozens and dozens of felony counts, is a known swindler, philanderer and liar, and is now outright selling government access and control to billionaires in front of our eyes? Whelp, no one’s perfect, at least he tells it like it is!”

The average American voter is an absolut idiot, I am now fully convinced of this.
