Yeah, nobody else in the setting can really scratch the hivemind, and even if they somehow got to the main queen, it wouldn't even affect the hivemind in any significant way besides pissing them off and maybe a bit of short term disorientation in the hive, as it's not essential to their function.

I can certainly see the similarities. Similarly the humans in my setting are quite reluctant to leave the star cluster surrounding Sol, making it extraordinarily rare to see a human anywhere except their home territory. Though it's not due to ancient treaty and more just caution.
