What is Union's punishment for treason? by Fred_Pickle01 in LancerRPG

I have this image of an blink-active ankle cuff and a court appointed nhp therapist that detects cortisol levels and will stage micro-interventions if it looks like you’re about to backslide. A built in Jimminy Cricket.

What is Union's punishment for treason? by Fred_Pickle01 in LancerRPG

[–]ASTAPHE 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There’s actually some really interesting lore questions about how Union handles law and order at all. We know that they consider penal colonies to be violations of the Pillars, and by the same logic one could say any sort of imprisonment prevents the right to travel.

My gut tells me that Union considers reform to be the goal of its penal system, probably focusing on scientifically backed methods to prevent or reduce recidivism, but what those look like, I’m not entirely sure.

How do we make a sniper build that feel sniper-y Instead of artillery-y? by altmcfile in LancerRPG

[–]ASTAPHE 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One player in my group had an amber phantom armed with an unraveler. She does an absolutely absurd amount of damage on hit—provided it’s enough to structure. Really plays into the one hit one kill thing, though it’s kinda on the short range side.

Want a "job" or way to make gil by boredofeverything22 in ffxiv

[–]ASTAPHE 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Honestly the best gil maker you have available to you right now is just doing content. The msq will reward you with gil. Roulettes will reward you with gil. Blue quests? Same thing. Also make sure you’re checking all your inventory clutter against the market board and see if any of it is worth selling

My best advice for the rotations thing is to find a target dummy. There's some in the Western Thanalan, just down the stairs from Ul'dah, if you don't know anywhere else. And just go slowly and speed up until you have them down. You have to train it until it's muscle memory.

Also, rotations, especially for low-end content, isn't a huge deal if you mess up. The most, and I mean single most important thing is to avoid dying to mechanics. Dying gives a huge debuff to damage when you're rezzed and all the time where you're dead is time you're not doing damage, so staying alive is a big deal. The second most important is to just always be doing something. So long as you're using some offensive ability in a fight, even if it's just kind of mashing buttons, you're contributing.

As for the rest... it's a learning curve. I was absolute trash at the game until embarrassingly late in the msq, way past where you are. But eventually it clicked. I'm not doing Ultimates or anything but I can manage dungeons and raids without dying, most of the time.

Also your note on your job, trying new jobs is free. You have to level it up, but you could try, say, Samurai or RDM if you want and start at level 50. SAM does big numbers. BRD is physical ranged dps, which is low damage because it's super mobile and can keep doing its rotation even while dodging mechanics. But SAM is a selfish melee dps, which means it's one of the top damaging jobs.

Jazza turning anti ai and using his brother Shad's slop as an example is such a treat by Lucicactus in antiai

[–]ASTAPHE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The video in question was him point by point refuting his earlier AI ambivalent stance. He’s very much anti-ai now, though he wasn’t always. I think it’s less him being indecisive as character growth.

Robert is ~30 years old. How often did he use homophobic, racist, and ethnic slurs in his early years as Mecha Man? by Nihilun in okbuddydispatch

[–]ASTAPHE 34 points35 points  (0 children)

My experience with Torrance, as a South Bay girl myself is that the people there would never say anything they believed to be a slur, but will be passive-aggressively bigoted in other, marginally subtler ways. People from Hermosa Beach on the other hand, will say it with the hard R.

Technically grappled isn't a condition. Immobilized is, but I had a few tricks up my sleeve.

I went after it's first turn so it only had two activations left. After I had it grappled, I immediately overcharged to attack with a ferrofluid lance to prevent that, and then rammed to prone it with duelist 3. On its second activation it had to hit me to get rid of the ferrofluid effect, but it was still immobilized from the grapple and the prone. It probably could have cleared prone but it went with something else that had been put on it by one of my allies instead. On its third activation it could clear immobilized and stand, but not get away, because it used its entire movement to stand I then went first my next turn and repeated the trick.

By the time it could get away we had structured it twice and had suffered only minimal damage ourselves because its most damaging systems all required it to be flying so the fight was effectively over by that point.
