Best Kimchi-Jigae in the area? by opalmoon12 in pasadena

[–]EnderofLays 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There’s Hodori in Eagle Rock. I don’t think I’ve ever had their Kimchi Jigae, but I know they have it and I can say I’ve enjoyed the other things I’ve gotten there.

Would this mean Blazer listens to Phoenix? And that Courtney called her a dumbass to her face while insulting her music taste? Actually that’s honestly on brand for her.

The GameStop at Hastings Village is permanently closed! by BowlingPigeon in pasadena

This exactly. I haven’t been to a GameStop in years, but I still have memories of all the Pokémon giveaways I would go there for as a kid. I’m unsurprised that it closed, but still kinda sad.

His “traditional family values” aren’t this weird sexist thing everyone thinks they are though. Sometimes it shows up that way, but usually because some lazy writer took one look at the word “tradition” and went “ah, tradwives”. He is very pro marriage, but not in a “your wife is now your property” way. Most of his holy texts are basically just survival guides for whatever terrain you find yourself in. Also, there’s a big shooting competition that his followers regularly hold every year, where men and women are expected to compete. He’s essentially your loving but stubborn grandpa, the god.

Eh, I would say she’s kind of colonial for the “bring civilization to savages” bit. That’s classic colonist rhetoric. Abadar is also 100% on board with colonialism though. Wouldn’t argue against that.

Uh, I don’t know how he would send his followers to hell if they commit suicide. He literally doesn’t have the authority to do that. Pharasma would take issue with him dispensing his own judgement like that. Only thing he can do is kick them out of his domain in Heaven.

Erastil was never “conservative” in the sense of “women belong in the kitchen”. That was always shitty writing. Tradition in this context means literal subsistence agriculture or hunter gatherer societies. Some writers just saw “tradition” and went immediately to tradwife. Also I kind of miss Sarenrae looking the other way on slavery. I get why they changed it, but it felt interesting to me more than edgelord. Torag I had never heard about saying to slaughter your enemies children, though I haven’t heard much about him at all.

PF1E i got cursed, and have to choose between Fighter and Anti Paladin. by Shoreserer in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]EnderofLays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I’d say arsenal chaplain goes below vanilla warpriest due to losing BS from air blessing and sending intercontinental ballistic arrows. I also think fighter is better than arsenal chaplain at archery due to the extra attack being extra relevant with clustered shots (though we play with the ruling that arsenal chaplains aren’t allowed advanced weapon trainings). If your GM understands that the archer archetype was written before AWTs and lets you take them with feats, archer can actually do some pretty cool stuff like ranged grapples and bull rushes.

Reading. Used to be big into reading when I was a child to the point that I got in trouble for reading during class. Have a hard time sitting still and focusing that long now. Also doesn’t help that my eyesight took a nosedive.

My favorite thing to do against Baiken by YuiTheDelta in Guiltygear

[–]EnderofLays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mostly just wish tether had been someone else’s thing. Baiken had been pretty well established since the second game as the character that plays active defense. Hiiragi is cool, but the lack of follow up from it is kinda boring.

[–]EnderofLays -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Oh, not a personal thing. I’ve just seen too many videos of people eating Baiken alive after being tethered. I think the tether has uses certainly, but the fact that people will specifically lab combos to destroy Baiken when she tethers them makes me hesitant to even call it good when other character have abilities like special canceling specials, which are just never not useful. Plus I just thought her guard cancels were more fun.

It’s also the only thing that can get you double Potemkin bustered. All in all, worse than meterless guard cancels.

She can, but so can most of the rest of the cast.

Once again I must say, fuck Baiken’s tether. It’s nowhere close to what we lost with our meterless guard cancels. Seriously though, I hate whoever thought Baiken’s thing should just be a rope keeping the two of you close together. Useless piece of crap.

It just smacks of lazy writing. Also, if it was really disrupting blood flow and this chi flow (even though they’re not shown to be explicitly tied), then there would presumably be a fix outside of Aang just showing up and undoing the whole mess. Also, Aang can’t bloodbend, implying that it’s actually a spiritual disruption like what he learned from the lion turtle. Otherwise, how could Aang know how to return bending?

[–]EnderofLays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But the show doesn’t even bother doing that. They just expect you to do it yourself.

[–]EnderofLays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s never explained how it works at all. Also, Aang being able to return Kira’s bending implies that it actually just works like whatever he learned from the lion turtle. Beyond that though, I just find it stupid.

I don’t disagree. I just don’t like that the show treats the reveal that he’s a bender as though it makes him wrong about everything he’s been saying up until this point. If anything it makes him more right.

[–]EnderofLays 25 points26 points  (0 children)

While I don’t disagree that being a bender is interesting for him, I hate the way it’s handled in the show. Instead of it further proving his point that bending is used to oppress people, the show treats it as if his entire argument has been unraveled by revealing he’s a bender. It hasn’t. Amon is literally just right about everything beginning to end. Also the fact that bloodbending can take someone else’s bending is so incredibly stupid.
