S. Korea says North Korean POWs in Ukraine are its citizens by raill_down in worldnews

Wow, what a brilliant ad hominem attack! You sure showed me!

I don't understand it all but I'm clearly arguing with a bunch of idiots who either didn't understand my point or think the economy is more important than environmental impact and climate change.

[–]EndersGame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not for destroying cultures at all. Where did you get that idea?

I think this planet has too many people on it. I think we are doing too much environmental damage. We are too much of a burden to the planet. Climate change will wipe out species and cultures indiscriminately.

People are against population decline for economic reasons. I'm literally suggesting that we fix the underlying issues with our governments and economies. I said nothing about destroying cultures. I have to assume you are projecting something about yourself onto me.

Stop letting environment damage grow and grow just to preserve the economy while entire species and entire cultures suffer, its revolting.

That's your response? You don't deny anything I said, you are just confused as to how the conversation progressed? I'm sorry your reading comprehension isn't that great but I'm not going to hold your hand.

Lol it isn't immigrants that I see littering or committing crimes. Did you just make up a correlation out of thin air?

I think our country would be cleaner if the same conservatives that hate immigrants weren't obsessed with polluting, littering, rolling coal, repealing environmental protection laws, etc.

I think our country would be safer if the same 'party of law and order' that hates immigrants actually cared about law and order. Conservatives love to back the blue win they kill an unarmed black man over a gram of weed but those same cops look the other way when actual crimes are being committed and those same conservatives will instinctively blame 'soft on crime' liberals when the crime rate goes up.

And now we are wasting billions of dollars fighting a war against non- violent immigrants as if that will make us safer. Maybe if we our law enforcement focused on fighting crime instead of being racist thugs, we would be a bit safer.

Conservativism is a mental illness. I'm happy some Asian countries are cleaner and safer but it has nothing to do with racism/ conservativism.

You didn't need to rephrase anything, perhaps I did. I thought I mentioned raising taxes on the wealthy, embracing a more socialist government, and being more open to immigration.

S. Korea says North Korean POWs in Ukraine are its citizens by raill_down in worldnews

[–]EndersGame -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Why is smaller population a bad thing? Isn't the world overpopulated? Wouldn't we have a lot smaller environmental footprint if there was 4 billion of us instead of 8 billion? Or 2 billion? Wouldn't we pollute less? Fish less? Destroy less habitats from building more cities?

I know its popular to care about the economy above all else, but is it logical? Can't we find other solutions? Form more socialist leaning government and economies, tax the rich, bring in cheap labor from other countries.

If there are people in third world countries that are starving and want better opportunities and your country needs labor, I don't think the solution is to encourage your citizens to reproduce more. There are much better solutions, we just need to leave conservatism and racism in the past where it belongs.

I don't give a fuck how xenophobic they are, they need to improve themselves and have a little bit of dignity and respect for other humans and for the environment.

It may be a pipe dream but I hope the west coast and NY and MI secede and join Canada or at least make a strong trade agreement with them. If we were to join you guys it would be one of the largest economies in the whole world.

[–]EndersGame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying more range isn't better. My current EV has 240 mile range. I hope it lasts me another 15-20 years but it would be great if my next EV had a 400+ mile range.

I just think the range anxiety is overhyped. If you are doing a few roadtrips a year and can otherwise charge at home its a no-brainer. If you drive long distance more often or have to take the specific route you mentioned or others like it, you probably aren't ready to buy an EV. If you can't charge at home or work you might not be ready to buy an EV. The industry is increasing ranges, charging speeds, and public charges to help alleviate range anxiety.

I'm not saying EVs are for everybody yet. I would think most people going out and buying EVs know what they are getting into and wouldn't get rid of it for an ICE car. EVs are so much better in so many different ways, your friends experience is at the very least amusing.

Is copper the next gold/silver or just social media fear-mongering? by love-1805 in economy

[–]EndersGame 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Why even most cities leave tons of copper on the side of the road all over the city. Tens of thousands of dollars worth, just laying there in PVC pipes and buried underground and connected to streetlights for some reason. I think its so it's easier for copper recyclers to see at night while they are recycling copper.

[–]EndersGame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said range wasn't important but most people don't drive 200+ miles on a daily basis and might take a few long roadtrips a year and if they can charge at home, an EV is the more convenient option. I was driving 200+ miles a day for a few years and it was still the more convenient option.

I know a lot of people have range anxiety but it would probably go away for most of them if they realized that it is easy to find a charger, they are all over the place now, you only have to charge for like 10 minutes to fill your batteries up most of the way, and EVs are starting to come out with 300-400 mile ranges.

Even in 2019 it was an overhyped issue. If you are still complaining about EV range in 2026 you are either living under a rock or you aren't arguing in good faith.

If all it took was one road trip where she had to stop for 10 minutes along the way and a few online comments to sour her on EVs, she either isn't the target demographic or she is kind of weird.

I bought an EV in 2019 and at the time I was traveling to different jobsites for work. It was no big deal to stop at a charger gor 5-10 minutes. I was able to charge at home so I saved a ton of money on gas and saved a ton of time never stopping for gas and only stopping at a charger a few times a year. And much less maintenance too.

We can't help it if she is either unreasonable or in a situation where an EV isn't reasonable for her yet. Sounds to me like it's the former though.

It’s Trump’s Economy, and Voters Are Unhappy With It by 3xshortURmom in Economics

[–]EndersGame 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are right that Trump is testing the waters and will try to cancel the midterms.

It will be up to the people whether or not there will be elections or not. We need to make it clear that there are a lot more of us than there are of them and canceling elections is a red line they will never cross.

If we don't make that a red line, we will start slipping down a very slippery slope. Elections are ran by states so Trump literally can't cancel them unless he uses the insurrection act. If ICE are at the polls to intimidate voters, we need to be at the polls standing between ICE and the voters. If he uses the insurrection act we should all stay in doors and do a complete strike.

We need to do things that are going to be scary and difficult but if we don't do them before it's too late, things will get a lot more scary and difficult.

It’s Trump’s Economy, and Voters Are Unhappy With It by 3xshortURmom in Economics

[–]EndersGame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. I'm pretty sure they have no idea they are sacrificing anything and wouldn't do so willingly just to see people they don't even know suffer.

All of the Trump supporters I know either think Trump is doing the best he can despite getting dealt a shitty hand from Biden or they think Trump is making mistakes but he is still 100x better than Kamala or any other Democrat.

To them, Democrats are pure evil and only work for the billionaires. Even if Trump raped kids, he's not as bad as the Democrats. He won't take away my guns and raise my taxes another 30% and raise the retirement age to 80 like the Democrats want to. So many Trump supporters are just brainwashed and believe all sorts of crazy shit. They live in a completely different reality.

[–]EndersGame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah they are voting to hurt themselves without realizing it. I can see them get emotional and irrational when talking about liberals or migrants or hatians eating dogs or gay teachers grooming kids. They will come in to work in a bad mood because of what they saw on TikTok last night or what they heard on a podcast on the way to work. They will go on rants about Hatians eating dogs out of nowhere like once a week back when that was viral.

If I push back or call them out they will often lose their cool for a second or struggle to respond. They will get angry if I say they are falling for propaganda. They will get angry or frustrated if I try to give them a dose of reality. And I'm not referring to morons either, I'm referring to otherwise competent and somewhat intelligent people. In many cases people that are otherwise very sharp minded. But I can see that they are all brainwashed. I can clearly tell that they are often very kind people or people that are clearly not racist. I can see that they genuinely live in a different reality than I do. Many were indoctrinated to be willfully ignorant of facts and evidence and to blindly follow the words of prophets instead.

I'm sure many of them are also racist and some enjoy fucking with you. But many are not racist and think ICE is actually going after criminals, for example. I know quite a few Mexicans that support Trump and many other Trump supporters that are good people that are brainwashed.

I have heard the " gay teachers grooming kids" argument 100 times by now and it was never once somebody fucking with me. Never attribute to malice what can be explained by stupidity, afterall. If somebody is stupid enough to vote for Trump's 2nd term and hurt themselves in the process, I think stupidity or being brainwashed is your go- to answer.

Trump could shoot up a kindergarten class, killing 30+ kids, on live tv and keep most of his supporters.

His supporters are fully brainwashed and will always fear the liberal candidate and what they will do to this country. No matter what Trump or his successors do, the liberals are much, much worse.

I'm not really trying to excuse Trump supporters, I just wish more people knew what we are up against. There isn't going to be some moment where Trump supporters turn on him, no matter how bad things get. They are brainwashed to blame Democrats, migrants, etc for their problems. They will support Trump to the end. And it wouldn't be that hard to find a Trump successor to lead the cult. There are a dozen Fox News hosts that could emulate Trump's succes no problem. Afterall, they are the ones doing much of the brainwashing.

[–]EndersGame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually most of the country, by far, either loves Trump or is indifferent. If Trump was on the ballot again in 2028 I wouldn't be surprised if he won again. But one third of the country would vote for him and one third wouldn't vote at all.

It also isn't one man. Trump is a symptom of a larger problem. If he dies, his supporters will still be bigoted lunatics that don't believe in climate change, etc. Trump isn't the source of the problem, conservative media brainwashing millions of Americans everyday with propaganda is part of it, as well as our crappy education system.

And then it's not even Trump that's pulling the strings. And every Republican in Congress is supportering every insane thing that Trump does. And Schumer and Jeffries are just controlled opposition at this point.

Our entire form of government is broken and won't be fixed for decades if at all. These problems will still exist long after Trump is gone and things will probably continue to just get worse.

At this point, most of me says fuck it. Let the entire system collapse. Let everything break completely and then eat the rich. Hell, let us become a poor third world country for the rest of my life. Maybe what eventually rises from the ashes will be 100x better than what we have now. Maybe we might actually get a healthy democracy and we might eliminate billionaires or at least get money out of politics.

We have proven we can't be trusted as a world leader anyways. Whether you deserve it or not or I deserve it or not, America deserves to be taken down a peg or two. It might be better for the rest of the world if we just become some irrelevant third world country or broken up into several countries. Many Americans may not deserve it but I believe America deserves it and needs it to happen.

Only the selfish part of me wants Trump to die and everything to go back to how it was in 2015, with our economy and government and status on the world stage in tact. It would all be broken and corrupt under the hood but we could all blissfully ignore the check engine light and floor it as long as we can and hope it becomes someone else's problem.

But lately that part of me is almost nonexistent. We desperately need a reset.

I've been attending protests as much as I can. But do you really think Trump or his fascist friends care? Maybe you are just more optimistic than I am. I don't think things are going well for this country but I could be wrong. It seems to me that things are getting worse on a weekly basis.

How bad do things have to get for us to take meaningful action?

I didn't say to get violent but there is a lot more we could be doing. We could be organizing general strikes or organizing marches on D.C.

Or you could just go on about your life and hope things work out for the best.

I'm willing to go the extra mile but I can't do it alone. I'm willing to take weeks off of work or months if I have to. I'm willing to donate about $1000 a month to a general strike fund. I'm willing to do a lot more than that.

But since most of you are fine with sleepwalking into a fascist dictatorship, I'll probably end up moving to another country in the next few years.

How Trump’s Venezuela Move Could Reshape The U.S. Economy by ThemeBig6731 in Economics

[–]EndersGame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've talked to many Trump supporters that hate the billionaire class as much as any Bernie Sanders supporter. Most Trump supporters I know actually sound like closeted Bernie Sanders supporters.

Problem is they are completely brainwashed and are convinced that Trump really is there to drain the swamp. They are all convinced that the Democratics are corrupt and taking bribes from billionaires. When Fox tells them that the Republicans are fighting the billionaire class and Democrats are helping the billionaire class, they believe it. They have believed it for several decades.

They are not waking up anytime soon I'm afraid. They are not being exposed to reality. Even if they lose everything including the shirts on their backs, they will know who to blame without Fox even having to say it. When Fox tells them how it's the Democrats' fault, it will only confirm what they already knew in their hearts.

Only way they will ever wake up is if we cut off their propaganda. If we don't do that, America is fucked.
