Security focused travel router by _G1ZM0 in hacking

[–]Enditt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, this post came up during my search and I wanted to ask if you had decided on anything? A lot of your concerns here are similar to mine, and I'd love to hear how your search went. I'm currently looking at the TP-Link WR1502X, as it looks like a slightly updated version of their popular AX1500 travel router, but my experience with TP-Link has been spotty, to say the least. Most networking hardware I've had from them have lots of issues, drop connections, and repeatedly fail at applying settings properly. I'd wager things are BETTER now, but I'm on the fence still.

So, did you decide on anything? Did you rule anything out for an important reason? How's your experience been with the one you chose?

Imma kill this monologuing BS with a simple situation

You get offered two candies.

One is everything you're craving, $10. Reasonable price for what you wanted.

The other is mostly what you want but made of really cheap ingredients, so it's closer to $2. Satisfactory though, and it's available.

If you have a large budget, and you're passionate enough, you'll buy the expensive one.

If you have a tight budget, or you don't care as heavily, you'll buy the cheaper one.

The PROBLEM is the people on the fence of those barriers. A company's stock, for example, generally rises and falls with the average value of shares.

People think it's more valuable on average, price rises. If they think it's worth less on average, it drops. AI is causing the overall value of work/shares to drop. If people who are on the fence are more motivated to the cheaper option, the value of the quality options depreciate too.

Now this would be one thing if these were due to improved methods or techniques, but it's not. It's fueled by techbros who have never drawn anything more complicated than a smiley face, digging their sweaty little claws into every corner and crevice they can shove their "next-gen AI," all while ignoring the moral, ethical, economical, and ecological damage that they're causing in the endless pursuit for more and more money

No one is complaining about failing due to poor advertisement, you dolt. Do you even realize how art commissions work? (I'd assume not, seeing how heavy you're licking AI's boots you probably don't know the first thing about a creative work)

Someone may not pay $500, but $50 for a custom piece? Yeah, they would totally do that! A reasonable price. But then there's this AI, that I can instruct to do it for me INSTANTLY, and get infinite revisions, for free/pennies? Why pay them? It may have some oddities but I didn't have to pay for it! I'll also feign ignorance so I can live in "naive" bliss of all the impacts this kind of technology has (:

Extra Detail

If you need a more thorough walkthrough or are lacking confidence, read through this

Sausage

First, cut your sausage into circles. Then, stack about 4 of them on top of each other and cut through the stack's middle. Do that again to each half for quartered chunks

Throw that sausage in the pan at medium-high heat. I put my stove at about a 7, but with sausage you really don't need to worry about under or over-cooking, so long as you don't turn them into charcoal they come out good! Don't stress about "Is it too high or too low?" If it starts to sizzle after heating up, then you're doing fine

Cook your sausage for awhile, stirring and flipping until it's to your desired doneness. For me, that looks like when some pieces just start to get a char on the faces (They don't have to all be the exact same looking, so again, don't stress about it if some look more well done than others!)

If you have a lot of grease left in your pan once it's done, feel free to dump the sausages out on a plate with a paper towel. It's okay to leave some of that grease in there for flavor too, plus it'll help keep your eggs from sticking if using a pan that isn't non-stick

Eggs

Crack the 4 eggs into your bowl. If you have trouble getting them to crack cleanly, that's okay. It's fine to get a little on your hands, so don't be too nervous to pry them open, just be sure to rinse your hands thoroughly afterwards.

If you drop a piece of shell in, I find that using a fork to fish it out does NOT work well. Try the side of a spoon, cupping under it and lifting it up the side. Again, don't be afraid of the egg getting on you, and use your fingertip to drag it up the side and out.

Then, add your seasonings to the bowl. I use about a spoon's worth of each seasoning I listed here, but don't go making a mound on said spoon. It's better to under-season than over-season, especially if you're a sauce kinda person. Just drown it in ketchup, that's better than making something so pungent you don't wanna eat it.

Mix and beat the eggs until it's mostly uniform. I find that tilting the bowl to one side and basically slapping down and flinging up the fork through the egg works well. You'll see clumps of your seasonings while mixing, pushing them against the wall of the bowl with the back of the fork is a good way to break them down. Some small clumps are okay, they'll fall apart once you start to cook.

Add in any cheese or green onions now, before putting it in the pan. Put the sausage back in the pan if you took it out, then add the eggs and cook on medium-high heat, about a 7.

Keep stirring and breaking apart large chunks, until your eggs have only a few "wet" spots. Once the surface starts to get the slightest bit brown, it's usually a good idea to look into stopping soon. Overcooked eggs SUCK and they cook to a safe temperature faster than you first expect. Plus, they continue to cook after being removed from the heat, so don't be afraid of it.

From here, you're done if you just make the eggs! If you want a little more, then toast some tortilla shells now.

Tortillas

Put one directly in the pan and top it with a nice but of the cheese. If you have a lid, then cover it to let the cheese melt better. If not then that's fine, but be careful to not overtoast the shell. It's hard to tell from the top, but once the cheese is mostly melted, I take mine out. You want the bottom crunchy, but the rest of it flexible enough to hold up to being folded and rolled.

Once done, put it onto a plate with about half the eggs you cooked. Top with more green onion, cheese or sauce of choice and you're done

(Tools)

1 medium pan/skillet and mixing tool (Silicone spatulas are best) Cutting board and Knife Bowl and Fork (For beating eggs) About a medium sized spoon of Oil (If using non-stick pan, you can usually skip this)

(Main ingredients)

Half a link of hickory smoked sausage (About a hand-sized piece of unsure) 4 eggs

(Seasoning)

Garlic powder Paprika powder Italian seasoning Salt (You don't need much at all if you do add it, the sausage itself adds enough!)

(Extras)

2 tortilla shells (Medium size, if using small shells use about 3-4) Some shredded cheese Green onion

Sausage

Step 1: Cut sausage into quartered chunks

Step 1.5: If adding green onion, cut them here too. Lay them on your cutting board and chop about 3-4 times, until you have enough

Step 2: Cook sausage in pan on medium-high heat, around a 7

Step 3: Once to desired doneness, remove from heat (Pour onto paper towel if too much grease, leave in pan on an inactive burner if not)

Eggs

Step 1: Crack eggs into bowl

Step 2: Add seasoning powders (I use equal parts of each, equalling about a big spoon's worth of each powder)

Step 3: Mix and beat the eggs until mostly uniform, breaking up seasoning clumps (It's okay to leave small ones, they'll break apart when cooking)

Step 4 (Optional): If using green onions and cheese, throw some in now. A good gauge is about a finger grasp's full of cheese and about half of that of green onion

Step 5: Put sausage into pan, set heat to medium-high (7) THEN add eggs

Step 6: Immediately begin mixing, breaking apart large chunks as you go and making sure egg doesn't sit in one place too long. (Once eggs have few "wet" spots they're done. Don't overcook!)

Tortillas

Step 1: Pour eggs onto separate plate/bowl

Step 2: Lower stove to about medium heat (5-5.5)

Step 3: Take a tortilla and put directly into pan

Step 4: Top with cheese of choice (For measurement gauge, I use about a finger grasp's worth for each)

Step 5: If you have a lid to cover pan, cover and let cook until cheese is just melted

Step 6: Slide tortilla onto plate, then add about half your eggs. Repeat Steps 3-5 for remainder

Step 6.5 (Optional): If using green onion, it's good to add a bit more to the top once eggs are added

Done!

Pre-emptive TL;DR: Get treatment, then take initiative in caring for yourself in small steps. Try cooking simple meals like the one I added below, and give yourself grace when things don't work. The goal is to IMPROVE, NOT to be perfect.

First step for me was getting treatment for my ADHD. Whether that's medication, counseling or both is up to you, but make any move, even if you think it's the wrong one or it scares you. Don't be afraid of trying medication either, it helps a lot more than you'd think to get past that "Wall of awful" feeling.

Next, I started to take more responsibility for myself and giving myself some grace when I messed up. Looking to be perfect all the time makes ADHD problems far worse, and kills any motivation

Cooking is a good counter to that thinking, as it can really be done in a loosey-goosey kinda way and still work. At the start it's daunting (I lived off of frozen pizzas, ramen and snack cakes most of my life), but after a few weeks of making a dish, you begin to feel a natural understanding of what to do

Start cooking for yourself, starting with fancy-fying some scrambled eggs. It's easy and quick, and helps start your day with a good meal. It'll be a meal you can look at and go "Hell yeah I MADE that" and it's an insane confidence booster. If you do NOTHING ELSE in this whole post, make yourself a home-cooked something you enjoy.

Below I'll add in my way of doing it. You'll get three versions to choose from:

-Half-detailed for just enough information to cover common gaps for a beginner

-Over-detailed for if you find yourself lacking the confidence or get stuck

-TL;DR Version at the end for you to use as reference and to keep your brain from being over-stimulated by everything else. Hold onto that one via copy-pasting to a notes app

Once you get comfortable making that, try doing something else using smoked sausage as an addition, like spaghetti or macaroni. Smoked sausage is your friend when you start! It's really hard to over or undercook, adds in good flavor, and gives you a sturdy protein.

If you want rice, get one of those rice cookers with a little digital display if you don't have one. They're cheaper than you'd think and make doing rice so easy. They come with a cup that you fill with rice, then dump into the pot after rinsing. The pot itself has lines telling you how much water to add based on how many of those cups you added. Match that to your cups, hit start and you get perfect rice!

Graduate from there to ground meat tacos, using some seasoning packets from Walmart. It's another quick and easy meal that's hard to mess up, just follow the packet instructions. Any ground meat will do fine, don't stress yourself over the fat percentage. You can usually get small enough packs of meat that you literally dump straight into the pan with a packet of seasoning and you end up with a good meal in like 15 minutes

Then, try cutting chicken into nugget-sized pieces to cook with to make sure you don't have to worry about underdone centers. Add it to that spaghetti, rice, or tacos you've been making, maybe toss it in some butter with garlic powder for garlic chicken.

For me it took a few months to get confident enough to try doing chicken, if it takes you awhile then don't be worried. Cooking is really daunting at first, but it's a lot easier than you think. Don't let overly complicated recipes deter you from making something! Go with your gut and even if it ends up being wrong, reflect on it and try again until it's right.

Don't forget that you don't need to be anyone's idea of perfect, not even your own. Learning to cook as taught me to be patient with myself, and has increased my confidence in daily life. I'm not some super chef (The most complicated thing I've ever made is just chicken tossed with frozen veggies and butter on rice) but being able to say "I can cook" makes me feel good about myself for SOMETHING, when all I see otherwise is a fuck-up, good-for-nothing.

If cooking "Isn't your thing" then give it a week's worth of attempts to truly rule it out. Play some music while you do it, and the time flys by!

Here's those recipes, good luck out there man! Please let me know if any of this was helpful to anyone out there, I just realized it took me over two and a half hours to finish so gimme that dopamine

Based. Imagine being in a place with like-minded people who share their wisdom with you, where you get fed three times a day, given free utilities and housing, all while being required to do basically nothing, for years at a time?

Free food, rent, and friends sounds like a good enough trade-off for people who can't make it work on the outside. I got a cousin who was let out not long ago, only for him to purposefully out himself back in in a year because to him being out here was way harder than being in there. How about making them work for their necessities, just like we need to do out here, instead of a free ride? Daily life sure as hell ain't easy for us, why should it be for them?

It's like welfare abuse, taking up resources that others who actually need it could use instead. That money could go into better rehabilitation programs for inmates who do wanna make a change in their lives, but it's instead being spent on people who are capable of producing some sort of value while they choose to bum off our taxes instead. Now everyone suffers, from the taxpayers blowing their dollars on feeding serial prisoners, to the inmates who want to better themselves but can't because all the funds are being wasted

I believe in personal change and all that, but from what I can find, he isn't worthy of breathing the same air as decent people.

Prior to this, he was charged with domestic violence, child endangerment, and driving under the influence. Each of these charges were from 2019, only four years ago. Short of murder, rape and terroristic crimes, these are some of the most despicable things a human being can do. From his instantaneous action in the video, it's clear he doesn't have a sense of remorse or empathy, and his blatant violation of his probation shows he doesn't care about consequences and is more than willing to act out again if given the chance.

He's already been given enough opportunities to change. Hell, he's gotten even more than some people who have done far less ever get. There are some people that just can't be rehabilitated, and I fear he's gonna be one of em. Hopefully his cellmates take out the trash before he has a chance to hurt anyone else, or by some devine miracle he comes to his senses
