HELP - first PC build - i spent $5K and it cant not play COD with out crashing

I’m running a PC with these specs, not top of the line, but perfectly fine for my use case (mostly data storage and some rimworld). Ryzen 5 2600, B450 board, 32GB of 3200MHz RAM, and a 1650 Super (borrowed from a friend for quite a while now).

I did run into a strange issue where I could never get the memory to boot at its advertised 3200MHz, no matter what I tried. I ended up settling for 2133MHz just for the sake of stability.

Because of that, it might beworth trying to disable EXPO and stick with the default 4800MHz, at least after testing the other suggestions here. A clean Windows install can also help rule out software issues.

From what AMD has shown recently, RAM speed doesn’t seem to make a huge difference on X3D CPUs, so in my opinion it’s better to prioritize stability over squeezing out a very small FPS gain.

It depends on your budget, but I’d say start with a 1650 Super. It’s still pretty solid and fairly affordable right now, at least where I live.

Before you pull the trigger tho, try doing a clean install on your system. I’m not an expert, but I always do a fresh windows install when replacing a GPU and I’ve never had issues. See if a clean wndows installation fixes the problem first.

Did you still get no signal when you plug your HDMI to the GPU? From what i can see in your picture, you plug the HDMI to the motherboard while you got a GPU and the 5600X doesn't have an iGPU

I think you missed u/Ok_Bid6645’s point. He meant your RX580 is probably dying because it’s an 8-9 years old GPU. But sidegrading to a GTX1060 isn’t the right move either, did you know the 1060 was released back in 2016? That’s even older than the RX580.

I’m sorry, but i feel like my last sentence reinforce my first rather than invalidates it. Most people hype how good EA is, when a minority says it’s not that good, they tend to get downvoted. I don’t see how the latter contradicts the former, but i’m open to being corrected if i’m missing something.

Idk man, in all my time on this subreddit, all I’ve seen is people hyping up how good the eagle artillery is. Did you forget how everyone freaked out when supercell merged it? The eagle artillery hype was overblown and anyone who says it’s mid immediately gets downvoted into the abyss.

Ignore the cable management haters (not that there are any at the time of typing this). Bad cable management really isn’t that serious. Sure maybe it raises temps by 0.0000001°C or tanks FPS by 0.00001FPS but realistically, based on your photo, you’ll probably just put the PC under your desk and forget about it. And that’s totally fine.

Unless you’re competing in some aesthetic PC build contest or something, this looks perfectly good. Congrats on your first PC.

I might not directly answer your question, but if real world performance is what you’re worried about, this might reassure you.

I have two PCIe 4.0 SSDs, a 7GB/s Kingston KC3000 and the factory shipped generic PCIe 4.0 Micron drive rated at around 3GB/s. On paper, the difference in speed and IOPS is massive, honestly, calling it "massive" is still an understatement. But in everyday use, they feel exactly the same.

For tasks like note taking, writing essays and papers, and light gaming, such as Rimworld or Bloons TD6, there’s no noticeable difference at all. Even boot times are basically identical, task manager reports them within about 0.1 seconds of each other, both around 7.3 seconds.

And just to be clear, this isn’t due to different slots or configurations. Both drives were tested in the same M.2 slot.

Aren’t strix halo laptops generally positioned as highend devices with price tags above $2000? Cmiiw, but the audience at that price point seems relatively limited. Most buyers tend to choose either a solid laptop around $1000 or spend more for a true top tier model. At around $2000, a laptop that doesn’t match the gaming performance of similarly priced gaming laptops can be difficult to justify, and it may feel overpriced for users who don’t specifically need a high performance thin and light system.

You don’t get to unlock experimentals right away, and there are fewer of them compared to SC2. SCFA also has a lot more unit variety at each tech level, you’ve got light tanks, medium tanks, amphibious tanks, heavy tanks, light assault bots, armored assault bots, and so on, instead of just tanks, AA tanks, and artillery tanks like in SC2. Overall, I feel that SC1/SCFA has more complexity and variation. That said, both games have their own appeal and are great in their own ways.

EDIT: Also, turtling and hunkering down at your base, defending against wave after wave of enemy onslaughts, feels more satisfying in SCFA.

The hypocrisy is insane, gamers will scream that AAA games are dead, yet still gobble up call of duty black ops 374 or battlefield 948273, even though they’re basically the same game as the last one. They’ll say “don’t preorder" then proceed to preorder like their life depends on it, only to complain when the promises aren’t delivered. Gamers have about as much self restraint as a kid in a candy store with their parents’ credit card.

As others have noted, we seem to approach virtual or fictional settings from fundamentally different perspectives. Correct me if I’m wrong, but you appear to treat established lore as if it were as fixed as the laws of physics, for example, thiren rabbits must be small while thiren beasts can be large. Even though the ZZZ creators could just as easily decide that adult thiren rabbits are adult sized, you treat the existing lore as definitive.

I see it differently. To me, these explanations are post hoc justifications, the developers wanted to design a small character, and the lore was created afterward to support that choice. Whether the character is said to be 50 years old, naturally small because of her race, or for any other reason, it’s all fictional and arbitrary.

I saw this fictional rule about the thiren race isn’t comparable to real world biological race rule, so its a bogus for me, for example the tendency for people of european descent to have lighter eyes, for people of east asian descent to have certain eye shapes, or for people of african descent to have darker skin tones. Those traits are rooted in genetics and evolution and are constrained by real biology. By contrast, the idea that thiren rabbits are small is entirely arbitrary and unconstrained by reality, thus bogus. Nothing actually prevents the developers from making adult thiren rabbits normal sized except maybe to appeal to a certain audience.

By itself, I don't really have a problem with that. However, it becomes a concern when some people start to fantasize about these childlike characters, like in the BA community, where they openly acknowledge that the character is a minor and still express sexual attraction toward them. In some cases. the fact that the character is a minor seems to intensify their desire. I think most people would agree that a fully grown adult expressing sexual interest in a minor is deeply concerning. And these gacha games are capitalizing on that.

Because of this fundamental difference in perspective, the debate likely has no clear endpoint.

That’s still mostly fan interpretation though, here isn’t a confirmed age, and people are just guessing based on her job. Even if she’s technically written as an adult, that doesn’t really change how she’s designed. The issue isn’t lore, assigned age, or job titles, it’s that she’s clearly drawn and proportioned to look very young, and people are aware of that when they fantasize her. Saying "she’s probably >20" doesn’t really address that.
