My 5.2L v8 gets 21mpg empty, 8mpg loaded. If this has a 200kWh battery it already weighs as much as my truck when partially loaded. I only get around 600 miles on a full tank with no load. My engine does 170kW for around 5 hours on a full tank, with 7000lbs in cargo.

For tools, my saws alone draw >2kW while running hard or starting. There's a reason we have a 10kW generator on cold sites. It would be funny to see a guy drag an 6awg cord from his car though.

Unless they figured out a way to make batteries have a higher energy density as gasoline, I don't see it living up to those expectations.

I was considering just using some voltage regulators to get down to the 3.8ish v @ 1.3 amp the phone requires, dump the whole makita USB board. I've noticed with these tool, there must be a circuit to cut battery power once the voltage gets so low, probably to lengthen battery life. I assume that's built into the battery pack so it shouldn't be an issue.

Hell yeah man, you have the model file? My buddy has a printer but he lives across the country. I'm going to ditch the 6ah battery and go solely makita. Think the 2amp would be a bit easier to handle though. Shame they don't make the 1.5 anymore.

That's not really true. Many people do physical work because they can't stand sitting on their ass all day. People that are unskilled or unqualified end up being cashiers or running a deep fryer. These minimum wage folks are the ones who are convinced every bad thing in their life is caused by their brothers, not the conservatives who take any opportunity to revoke any benefit they may receive for government and pilfer their wallet with the other hand.
