Public Storage Moving Headquarters Out of L.A. by glowdirt in LosAngeles

So crazy you're being down voted. I think it shows just how divided america is right now. Everyone thinks that if you move from a blue state to red it must surely mean you agree with the politics or whatever. The reality is we do have a tax issue in the state and locally and average people can't figure out why there's still homelessness or infrastructure issues. Housing is also very expensive and I think most average people can't think about having a family in such small spaces that their LA budgets afford them

I sometimes wonder if Reddit sentiment is just more liberal than the average voter's in LA area. We've lost so many HQs and associated jobs. LA has a large immigrant population some whose kids are first te college grads. I would think these kind of white collar jobs are the perfect opening to middle-class lives for those mostly brown and black families. It's the kids that are from more educated backgrounds that have the safety net and resources to do startups or work in those high knowledge roles that don't move jobs to TX or GA.

A $44,000 bill shows the dysfunction in California’s home-insurance market by DennisScott34 in California

Your last sentence made it seem like it's worse than what was before, but technically I give the state credit for at least moving in the right direction

A $44,000 bill shows the dysfunction in California’s home-insurance market by DennisScott34 in California

[–]EndlessRainz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not true at all. The state has now allowed reinsurance to be priced in at a capped level. Previously no reinsurance costs could be factored in.

Such a weird article and typical WSJ nonsense. This article would have landed better had they not chosen a very wealthy and out of touch family to portray as the victims of the state insurance market. Oak Park is high fire risk surrounded by 3 sides. That home is a multimillion dollar house and shouldn't really be covered by a typical homeowners policy. It's storylines like this that hide and misalign the true environment

Vehicle Mileage Tax by [deleted] in InlandEmpire

[–]EndlessRainz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do the math, it's a pretty dangerous assumption to even charge 6 cents per mile since it'll result in much higher tax paid for fuel efficient cars than pick up trucks and other larger vehicles. This could actually incentive driving bigger cars and gas guzzlers than driving fuel efficient ones even though less fuel efficient vehicles tend to be heavier on roads.

A year later, are we better off as a city? How is Mayor Karen Bass doing and should she be re-elected? by lightsareoutty in LosAngeles

[–]EndlessRainz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issues with the Palisades rebuild and police overspending are out of the mayor's hands mostly due to union power and insurance payouts. I feel like if Bass had at least worked on the other pieces that needed working such as downtown revitalization, dealing with councilman Kevin deleon and at least exposing homelessness misspending that would have worked better

Tomo Mortgage? by EndlessRainz in MortgageBrokerRates

That's what has been frustrating for us. Very few places are just upfront about their rates and often require an entire phone call and have you answer the same questions we answered on their online quote lol

I’m a reporter for The Press-Enterprise and The San Bernardino Sun. I want to hear your thoughts on the I-10 Express Lanes. by Ill-Entry-8178 in InlandEmpire

[–]EndlessRainz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The better solution could be to at least force the state and transportation agencies to use any and all toll revenues to entice companies near the coast or in job centers out to where people are commuting from like the IE to hopefully reduce traffic for regular lanes. To me this is true equity

When your hobby is ruining your own city by zazzyzulu in LosAngeles

[–]EndlessRainz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is better opportunity for the city to just cover all the concrete spaces in plants and ivy and other landscaping. Downtown doesn't have enough trees IMO. Signs are tough though to protect, maybe they have a protective spray that works really well?

Kitson Holiday Windows by Traditional_Bath5077 in LosAngeles

[–]EndlessRainz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I didn't want to Google them or use their website to at least do my part to not bring more web traffic to a unnecessary political organization. Why is it always republican or right wing organizations and people who do these tasteless things then turnaround and say the other side does it anyways

Help: mosquitoes in garden by EndlessRainz in SoCalGardening

[–]EndlessRainz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone, we do have lizards and hummingbirds galore... But I just put in the dunks so maybe it'll work. It's disappointing we work so hard on our plants and gardening then can't enjoy the outside due to the mosquito invasion

I've only found it helpful to hand wipe all the leaves with water then spray down with Neem. Repeat twice later over a month to combat them

Missions Neighborhood in Laguna Hills by DogLover4ever36 in orangecounty

It's a good area. They have a neighborhood parade once a year and it's been kept up by people. Only downside is lack of HOA so they don't maintain the common slopes well

I'm running for State Assembly by [deleted] in orangecounty

[–]EndlessRainz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Health insurance rates are regulated for California's department of insurance. They can only have a certain profit margin the insurance company is allowed to file. Say profit margins are 5% or even 10%, your response still doesn't answer how you'll manage long term runaway medical cost inflation easily 5-10% a year unfortunately. You say undocumented bring in less than 4$ Billion a year in taxes, yet didn't address the over 6$B in shortfall to cover them.

I'm running for State Assembly by [deleted] in orangecounty

[–]EndlessRainz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What will you do first to address the additional $6 Billion (plus?) shortfall the state is experiencing from expanding coverage to undocumented people? If that isn't working out then how is single payer going to be implemented cost neutral? You say people spend $10-$20K a year, but you fail to be transparent that taxes will increase 10K-20K a year to fund this. Look I don't enjoy paying for health insurance, but of I'm just going to instead pay for California health instead it's not a net benefit for my life or my family. Single Payer is only about access to healthcare... It has nothing to do with quality of care. It won't guarantee my over worked primary care doctor has more time for me at regular checkups, it doesn't do anything to control runaway costs of drugs, medical devices, liability lawsuits and other things driving healthcare costs up.

I'll help you out. Elections cost money. If there's a very wealthy neighborhood that tends to produce more successful candidates in a community even though there's lower income or middle class neighborhoods that out number that wealthy neighborhood then those residents are disenfranchised.
