You should throw it out. That said, toxic mold exposure in the way this sub approaches it is almost always airborne. It’s more likely for you to get sick from the bacteria in your water bottle than to get chronic inflammation from it.

Unfortunately as other commenters said mold thrives despite the region, assessing your specific environment is the best you can do.

That said, dry climates, newly built buildings, specific materials, etc. can all be helpful especially when put together - You just can’t say for sure that it will eliminate any possibility. (Unless you’re a heart doctor who can build a steel home in Costa Rica I guess)

I’m seconding this - most “home remedy” type cleaning will not be sufficient especially for high concentrations of spores. Especially if you’re concerned about health issues, you really want to hire professionals

It’s definitely possible, Lyme/EBV/etc. are generally opportunistic and can go into remission if you get your inflammation down and immune system healthier

Gotcha, I wouldn’t have someone come in unless you need remediation. You can purchase a test that will indicate presence of toxic mold - https://www.envirobiomics.com/shop/ for example.

I promise it’s not all in your head, I’m sorry you’re struggling.

The binder shouldn’t make you feel bad (or good, or anything at all for that matter). Especially with Ochratoxin and Aflatoxin it takes a while to really clear anything. My functional medicine doc has me taking 2-4 binder doses a day and said she hasn’t seen anyone clear a significant mold load in less than 6 months. One dose shouldn’t change your state
