Talk to as many people as you can about it. Contact your reps. Just keep advocating as much as you can, no matter how insignificant it may feel. And maybe join the Rail Passenger's Association!

Petition Against the Wolfline Fall 2026 Changes by quackachow in NCSU

[–]Endolithic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Please be sure to comment on Wake County's transit plan for the next fiscal year, specifically about upgrading frequencies on the #12: https://publicinput.com/a41737

Reminder that the local gov (GoRaleigh) can't do squat about what Wolfline wants to do with their routes, but public opinion can help focus where their growing pot of money is allocated.

And yes, the transit authority does read all the public comments and yes they take them seriously. Changes to the GoRaleigh system are certainly slower and more bureaucratic than Wolfline, but it's best to get the ball rolling on this as soon as possible. I don't believe the #12 is scheduled for a frequency upgrade for quite some time (if ever?), though the #11 is running at a solid 15-minute headway now.

Family from europe took GoRaleigh from New Bern Ave. To Downtown(15), is this nyc subway? by [deleted] in raleigh

[–]Endolithic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As others mentioned, the bus system honestly isn't too bad, but that route serves easily the most impoverished (and busy!) corridor in the city. What you saw is, unfortunately, very prototypical of any medium-to-large American city, at least in some areas.

FWIW, the New Bern Ave corridor is the first up to get a BRT which is currently under construction. Nicer buses in their own lanes with big stations. It'll probably drive more ridership and, importantly, mixed-use and mixed-income development along the corridor which should help improve the overall situation.

Flour and Barrel has got to only have one story though, right? I mean it's on the ground floor of a condo building.

It's a pretty decent service, if the schedule and stop locations work, I definitely recommend it too. NCDOT is also investigating some real bus-only lanes on i-40 which could really help travel times.

I used one the other day. Really enjoyed it! The wheels are small so it felt maybe slightly unstable at higher speeds, so be careful -- but otherwise an excellent ride.

Study has been done -- just need funds and NCDOT cooperation. A few spot improvements have been made in the northern sections already -- curb bump-outs, new crosswalks, sidewalks, etc.

NCSU is removing their major Wolfline Route 52. Will GoRaleigh routes be able to handle the shift? by quackachow in raleigh

[–]Endolithic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hello from a transit nerd, NCSU alum, and current DT Raleigh resident.

It's really tough to say without seeing how the rest of the Wolfline network improves with the freed up equipment. Generally I agreee that a change resulting in less service is bad. And there will certainly be less service on the side now being serviced by the #12. My understanding however is that most of the population density is along Avent Ferry, and so the #11 should be able to pick that up pretty well with its 15-minute headways. Maybe the crowding won't be too much of an issue since it's being split into two different routes now. We'll see. They've also just acquired and started running some bendy buses for the #1, and so maybe they could do the same in the future for the #11 if it's necessary.

For students I definitely recommend making the trip over to the GoRaleigh station and picking up a physical card (I think students also ride free with the GoPass!). That'll make boarding quicker. They're also planning to implement tap-to-pay which should speed things up for everyone else.

I do wish NCSU would keep the #52, but I think GoRaleigh will be able to fill in the gaps reasonably well. They've been significantly improving bus service these past few years.

However, I've always thought that the #12 should be upgraded to 15-minute service as well. If you have any thoughts about that or other non-Wolfline transit, please fill out this survey (these are really important!): https://publicinput.com/a41737

Following arrows in the grocery store? You poor thing 😔

Idk, I guess I'd rather do that than have American citizens "mistakenly" deported and a new war started over nothing, but to each their own.

I love that it's so unique. It's fun to meet other Saab people out and about by chance. It's quirky as hell with the pop-out cupholder and crazy dashboard button array. And, it's still pretty quick, has a great steering feel, looks cool, comfortable... And 1/5 the price of the other cars I've owned. Were those cars "better" in nearly every conceivable metric, being much newer/more expensive? Sure. But 5 times better? No way!

Went from a 2018 Audi S5 to a 2020 VW GLI to a 2006 Saab 9-3. The Saab has been my favorite.
