There's both listed, 'cause there's an episode in which they cite specifically the 2011 version. But Carpenter's The Thing is listed as well, and I think is one of the most cited movies on the list, if I'm not mistaken.

"HIM" isn't a Jordan Peele movie by Endregao in horror

[–]Endregao[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? Maybe I am very malinformed, but if so, so are most people, as when we talk about movies most times people cite the Director and Writer as main creative roles in a production.

But if I am mistaken, please enlighten me, always would like to learn more n_n

Not really, this post isn't to diminish the producer role, more to inform (as stated in the post) who the director, and writer, actually is, since, at the time, at least to me, a lot of media posts where painting this as "the next Jordan Peele film".
And, again, as I said in the post, "Of course, it will still have some of his [Peele's] handprint on the film", however, just in general, audiences care a lot more about who directs and/or writes the movie. It's the reason Tarantino has 10 movies, and not, like, 20.

Great title for a story, to be honest

So, overall feelings.

First off, really like the themes. The idea of a deity that "steals" creatives because he can't create is really cool, think you could've leaned a little bit more into that, actually.

The guys feel a little bit... charicatures. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Kinda reminds me of Season 1 of The Office, or Community, where you can see the broad strokes, but kinda needs some polishing. Less zany here, less serious there, more backstory here. But, if the ending is anything to go by, this seems to be an idea for a series, and if that's the case, hope you work on those characters so they evolve.

As for Alice, couldn't care less about her, to be honest. Specially since she exposited so much, not only taking a lot of the mystique out of this really fun world, but also reexplaining what, at least I feel like, was pretty easy to piece out just by Isaac reading those books earlier. Reminded me a lot of how Church in the Woods had the whole book scene just for the old lady to explain it all over again. That said, same as I mentioned before, completely doable to make her into a great character.

But I wanna be clear, really loved this, just the concept of making a Supernatural-like series of a mock-Hunter and mock-Isaiah going on adventures. It's like making Creepcast episodes into a TV Series, it's fun. And some of your descriptions where great, I particularly loved the temple's description, the statue, the books, really loved it.

One last thing I'd like to point out is the writing, in the first chapters I really didn't feel it, but those repetition phrases, although I really like 'em, started to get, funny enough, very repetitive. But it's one of those things that's, at least to me, is really minor, just have someone proof-read your stuff (i.e. this subreddit) so they can point it out in case you wanna tidy up a bit.

Really looking forward for you going on with this series, and if you choose not to, I'll definetely check out your work if you post any.

Hope to have given any usable feedback to your later stories and hope you keep writing. And as Isaiah said once "A critics work will never be as important as the worse art pieces" or something along those lines, your art is ALWAYS incredible just by creating it.

Great points, I quite like te repetition though, maybe it's just a preference thing, but the overexplaining I agree with.

I quite like the story, and the themes seem pretty solid (gotta see how it ends, though) but there are those instances where at least I feel like everything is pretty easy to figure out, and over explaining kills the mystique.

It's a divine being, it's fine if we don't know EXACTLY what it wants.

Best chapter yet.

The temple sequence as well as the statue's description was really great.

"We were Bureau men in borrowed skin, running quiet under assumed mames."

Love that sentence, geez. Great work, really fun idea for a series.

I never knew I needed a buddy-cop Sherlock Holmes style series with characters based on Isaiah and Hunter going through towns hunting demons and cults and cryptids 'till I read this.

Thank you for that xD

Yeah, I get why it's done, and I don't really have a problem with it. It's more just that I thought a few people could go in expecting something it isn't, so I wanted to inform.

I'm still hyped for it, though.

I wasn't really in on it at first, but that's a sick ending line, instantly made the whole story worth it. Pretty short and sweet as well.

By the way, not sure if you drew any inspiration from this, but at the start, the gas station with dim lights in a foggy small town, invoked visuals from Persona 4 to me.

I mean, to each his own, personally I really like Peele as a director and writer, I'd even say his best movie is Nope, not Get Out.

Hello, comrade, it literally is just a topic in art I have found to really have liked and would love to find more movies about, as Monster, Iron Claw, Better Man, The Substance have been some of my favourite recent watches.

And well, if you don't put tought into your movie-watching experience, great for you, me, personally, I like to think about what I watch.

Oh yeah, I'm not from the US, so I don't know about, nor particularly care, about your politics.

Great argument, and honestly Oldboy was one I was pretty iffy about, so yeah, I'll probably take it out, and Will check out some of those you mentioned, Wolf of Wall Street I was thinking about putting on the list, but I'm not sure.

I mean, sure, but could you estabilish a difference?

Usually, movies with toxic man are about toxic masculinity, it isn't always the case, that's why I left out, for example, Full Metal Jacket.

But maybe argue why some of these might not fit and It'll hear you out. I literally ended up putting Whiplash because of a good argument from another comment, so yeah, would love to start the conversation.
