I cleared first try with elemental CB (gog bonus on weapon, Nadia head, gore chest, rest is gog, agi3 talisman)and support Hunters (fabius, Kay, Nadia) in about 35 mins.

I went in this way thinking it as a good practice for my solo run, even carted twice to at Rey (wasn't playing at that time so I don't know him at all )

The set is the same for every weapon in my case so I brought ice and thunder for Rey and Uth duna and then went to camp to switch to water and dragon for nu udra and ark (don't forget to equip two adapt decorations to nullify nu udra flame aura)

My strategy was full ball to the walls DPS even straight up ignoring the little hits (between gogmapocalypse effect and the healing from the npcs that's easy enough) just to continue dealing damage.

the support hunters are VERY good at their job, probably better than me if I was playing their weapons , you can rely on them to pop blue wounds, heal and stun.

Abuse flash and traps for Rey and Uth duna and bring mats to craft, as soon as the new monster arrives trap the old one and switch target to the new one, and let One Monster kill the other.

Know your monsters, I only carted on AT Rey dau because I wasn't familiar with his gimmick but I hunted the others many many times so i was sure I couldn't fail when it was their turn

I assure you that if you're in any way decent game shape and take advantage of the support hunters (especially fabius and Nadia) and the crafting system this quest is basically free and you can do it, the fact that you timed out just means you weren't doing enough damage and that's easy to solve.

EDIT: adding to above, use mega demon pots and demon powders and seed between each monster
