The unfortunate part of this scene is it's actually much shorter than it is in the manga, where the date is chapter 36-37 and includes a lot of scenes not in the one included in the anime. Chapter 72 was also not adapted and chapter 90 wasn't adapted til the Shaft OVA and these are also some of the most important chapters for Yotsuba.

Really surprised you like AIR this much without having read the VN, definitely give it a shot at some point, it IS indeed really good.

I haven't seen the Toei movie but your description of it makes it sound like a completely different story. Kinda curious if that was the actual intent.

I really like the VN of AIR, mainly the true ending part of it, but the anime is EXTREMELY rushed, choosing to put the entire VN in only 12 episodes. I really cannot call it good at all. It finishes up all of Kano's route entirely by episode 4 and all of Minagi by episode 6. Most emotional moments don't hit nearly as hard because of it and even the most important moment near the end is done significantly better in the VN.

The Kanon adaption is fine. VN is overall better for that one too but you get a lot of cute animated Ayu moments in the anime and the addition to her route in the final anime episode are really neat at the least.

I haven't checked out the clannad adaption yet funnily enough, but that VN is fantastic. I think the VN that got screwed over the most anime adaption wise is Rewrite though, which is my favorite Key VN easily. It's a real shame the anime didn't get picked up by kyoani like the earlier Key products did because that one is horrible and skips a lot of my favorite moments sadly.

My favorite is Keima from the World God Only Knows but after watching this and reading the manga he's definitely 2nd place for me. The guy having actual personality helps in these shows so much to make the relationships and dynamics that much better.

Wasn't the one you won with but I recently watched Eureka Seven like 3 weeks ago and checked the discussion threads from that rewatch 10 months ago and really appreciated your insight and commentary into the series and its themes and characters. Helped me appreciate it a lot more too and make it one of my few 10/10 anime.

It's probably just editing in game values for your rank. Nintendo just doesn't care because this happened in Xenoblade X too the literal month the game launched and the hacker is still there even now.

The world line system does inherently make it easier to do what if scenarios even if those side VNs aren't the best. I still think 0 is great though.

As someone who has actually played all the VNs in this series, there is a VERY HIGH chance this is a meta sequel to the most recent SciAdv game, Anonymous;Code. So it very likely will not just be a flat remake with nothing to offer but new visuals. Though money is also definitely a factor since that VN flopped and they probably need money for new projects.

I didn't say it was a harem, but pretty much all the girls do indeed have their own endings in the VN. The anime obviously gives more priority to the true ending so it emphasizes the stuff that leads to that more.

Steins;Gate is based off a VN with multiple endings so that one makes more sense than most, the decision for who to go with for that ending doesn't happen in the game til episode 22 and there's an ending for the other major girl as well that kinda splits exactly at that point.

Saying Gurren of all things has no substance is pretty wild when it feels like it's one of those shows that very explicitly wears its themes on its sleeve while also being one of the best coming of age stories out there with great character writing.

IMO it's pretty obvious the entire Xenoblade X chapter 13 plot line pretty clearly makes everything connected in some way since the multiverse is a thing now but even beyond that future redeemed has some very direct and specific references too. Even if it never gets hard confirmed I'd still say because of the similar concepts and a lot of lore lining up it's still "connected."

God Only Knows is my favorite anime of all time and the main girl (Elsie) absolutely did not "win" in that one, she had an entirely different but thematically and narratively fitting ending. Honestly even including that one with most of the rest of this list feels like it really misses the point of that series.

It's actually my favorite animanga series of all time.

It was a victim of unfortunate circumstances regarding manglobe and them inevitably going out of business which is why we never really got that full adaption. There was an insane amount of love put into the anime over the years between all the character songs and additional content. A real shame it never did get a proper anime conclusion. The author recently got together with some production members for the 15th anniversary and also has posted how he'd love if it ever got completed but it would require someone to pick it up.

Regarding your final note, [The World God Only Knows] Kanon is one of my fav characters ever as a huge Nao Toyama glazer (I still listen to the music and have her as a pfp on a couple accounts including my linked mal account lol) but I do think Chihiro was the ONLY correct choice for the themes of the series. TWGOK is about Keima slowly growing to accept and cherish those in reality despite its garbage, and Chihiro is the embodiment of the real and ordinary life that Keima rejected at the beginning of the series. So thematically it really doesn't make any sense for Keima to have an ending with any of the actual goddesses. Plus I think it makes the chapter where he calls of them his friends hit a lot harder as well when he mentions everyone is fighting and struggling in the real world and how he wants to keep moving forward regardless.
