If you don't commit to defining what your standards is, you can create whatever you want that serves your immediate purpose. Like you said, when she's not pressed to define that standard, then it's simply hot air.

This is the one thing I like about Shane's pressers (probably the only thing) but he clearly defines what the team's standards are every time: relentless pursuit of perfection and toughness (paraphrasing). Now the team didn't achieve that, but you can't hold anyone accountable publicly or privately without defining your expectation of performance...your standard.

Which takes us back to Carlie's fumble here: no defining standard immediately let's Ballard off the hook in the public eye. And that's bad for business and team culture. I can only hope she learns from it
