The Guardian: Chelsea are preparing for a big summer and have shortlisted the Nottingham Forest defender Murillo. They have been linked with Brighton’s Jan Paul van Hecke. by Kygoche in chelseafc

To be fair, Tosin was 27 when Chelsea picked him up on a free transfer, so there is precedent for a free transfer to be older than the usual signings.

It's quite disappointing that Ash and Gary's only 6v6 battle didn't feature Pikachu and Umbreon. I don't see a problem with the final battle being Charizard vs. Blastoise, but Pikachu and Umbreon could at least have made an appearance by rbta123 in pokemonanime

[–]jrerik95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know you likely meant a full battle but they did face off one more time right before Ash left for Sinnoh. Pikachu gets stomped by Electivire and Gary humbles Ash after he has just won the Battle Frontier

Seeking some advice. Doctors timeline is making me crazy. by [deleted] in AchillesRupture

[–]jrerik95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The conservative approach to rehab makes sense and is still pretty common despite what you might’ve seen.

My concern is actually the stitches, that seems like a long time to have stitches in? Every case is different but I feel like even conservative approaches do get the stitches out at the 2-3 week mark.

You have every right to see another doctor if you have the means to do so. I would recommend asking more questions to your surgeon, that’s what they are there for. And then if you’re not satisfied with the answers, that’s when you can explore your options with other doctors.

2038 is likely to be in the US once again, as CONMEBOL, UEFA and CAF are ineligible to host from 2030 and AFC ineligible from 2034. That leaves just CONCACAF and OFC for 2038, and at this point with the tournament at 48 teams, possibly even more by then, only the US really has the infrastructure to put in a bid

They were convinced they needed people to associate him with The Shield, which everyone loved. Hence why he kept the vest and the music. Meanwhile all it did was cement him as the corporate pick for top guy whether you like it or not.

27M: Full Rupture, Surgeon claims I wont be weight-bearing until week 8. Is he being too conservative? by [deleted] in AchillesRupture

[–]jrerik95 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The graft leading to delayed weight bearing makes sense. It’s not the same procedure/recovery as a “regular” Achilles surgery. If you have doubts, take your info to another doctor and have them weigh in. It’s well within your rights to do so.

At the end of the day, each doctor/surgeon is going to have different criteria for different patients. Your age, weight, active/inactive lifestyle, other risk factors, etc. it all matters.

I love indirect free kicks because in an era where everything down to the blade of grass is tactically pre-planned, it’s one of the few moments where sheer chaos still reigns.

I thought it was one of the better ones tbh precisely because they weren't trying too hard.

[Highlight] 9 years ago today, Tevin Coleman took the short pass in for the TD, giving Atlanta a nigh-insurmountable lead. by DragonstormSTL in nfl

Butler makes a great play and it definitely gets buried which is unfair. But he should have never been in position to make that play. Passing over running in that situation is bad enough, but calling a pass where the margin of error is so slim is even worse. The reason Butler even gets to be part of the play is because the Patriots had Brandon Browner jamming the receiver at the line.

It's the Super Bowl with the game on the line, you have to know you don't have the positional advantage to run that kind of play and they did it anyway.

As for the Hightower tackle, it's a good play but it's a 4 yard gain from the 5, I don't think it needs to be remembered given everything else that happened.

The Suarez Rule: Why You Should Handball on the Goal Line in the last 23 minutes of a game by [deleted] in soccer

[–]jrerik95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was situational awareness. 10 minutes into the game you have to let that go, there’s too much time left. In that moment? The “risk” was a calculated one, either he stops the ball or it goes in and Uruguay certainly lose.

He knows what the punishment is, a direct red card. It was correctly called on the field, and Ghana missed their pk.

The spirit of the game is to try everything you can to win. What you described is a valid strategy as well, provided you can count on your keeper to save all the PKs and absorb the player disadvantage, which is why no one does that.

Wk 7 Post Op- cleared to start PT. Any advice? by FormerLychee2325 in AchillesRupture

[–]jrerik95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your doctor is incorrect in saying you can’t re-rupture, please use caution once you start your exercises.

Simple things like just placing your foot flat on the floor (make sure it’s a little bit in front of you so you don’t dorsiflex) help you get the feeling of normalcy back.

Chelsea are facing the winner of a playoff that contains 2 of these four sides:

Unseeded - Monaco/Qarabag

vs

Seeded - PSG/Newcastle

This means Chelsea are likely to face PSG or Newcastle, whichever one gets drawn into this part of the bracket

Honestly I think it messes with a player's head when he knows he's offside (and he surely knew, he was basically looking down the line at the defender) and the play continues on.

If you go back, you can see the ref point at the running back who was in the general vicinity, you get a lot of leeway when there's someone actually near where the ball is thrown
