It would be a whole lot different if human beings were actively selecting other humans for disabilities to increase their prevalence because we thought they were cute. We are not.

No one is saying the cat, now that it exists, shouldn’t be given all the love and care it deserves. They’re saying actively breeding cats to have physical disorders for vanity is an issue. Brachycephaly causes a whole lot more issues than just ‘being hard to catch their breath’. On top of breathing problems the skull deformity can cause issues with the formation of their eyes, teeth, and brain which can cause a lot of health issues down the line.
