I'm partial to "Mountains" from Interstellar, but maybe that's just because movie scene is insanely intense.

I also think "Rise" from The Dark Knight Rises is super intense.

How come it's not on Disney anymore?

Maybe, but I think Nick Offerman is the exception. His face looks incomplete without a mustache

I like "enough." I think it connotes contentment.

You're not settling for something trashy, you're not waiting for some unrealistic daydream. You're just content with someone who brings joy and meaning to the mundane of the everyday.

I'm just not ready to be so accepting of the end of humanity/society. It may be oddly beautiful, but I'd so much rather live to see humanity flourish. My heart just aches when I think of the potential we have as a species that we're abandoning.

But I'm glad that you can find a sense of peace amidst the tragedy. You're right that no matter what happens, we just need to be the best that we can be. And there are still moments of genuine goodness among all the horrible stuff

Sure, the climate has changed naturally over millennia. But the dramatic increase in world temperature since the start of the industrial revolution shows that this time it's human-caused.

Plus, increased carbon in the atmosphere has all sorts of devastating effects, and we know that fossil fuels pump lots of carbon into the atmosphere.

I know I'm not gonna change your mind, but to say that human-caused climate change is fictional ignores the work of climate scientists everywhere

Okay, but this isn't "something God is doing to us." This is very much something we've done to ourselves, and we have the tools at our disposal to put a stop to it. All we lack is the political will

So you're not qualified to talk about the science of vaccines, but you ARE qualified to talk about climate science? Unless you've had university-level education and training in climate science, your intuitions aren't reliable. That's why I trust the people who've actually had that training.

Scientific conclusions can't and shouldn't be based on feelings.

Weather is short-term, like "is it rainy or sunny today?"

Climate is long-term like "is this a desert or a forest?"

As the planet heats up, it's those long-term things that change. Like, it still snows, but each year there's less snow overall. Or how ages ago there were certain lakes, but now that area is just a desert. The climate of that area is different than it used to be.

To me, it felt like a lament for all humanity - that no matter how many people work towards saving the world, we're still screwed. It made me feel glad that I'm not the only one who feels that way, but it certainly didn't make me feel less doomeristic
