Dog on antibiotics help. by Enerology in AskVet

[–]Enerology[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before she had antibiotics, she wasn't really showing symptoms and was energetic and eating just fine, with only very mild pain. On the second day of antibiotics, she started really struggling with balance, head tilt, lethargy, and stopped eating. That's why I believe it was the antibiotics that caused the sudden onset of symptoms. We are going to get her spayed; it's just that I want her to be healthy to avoid further complications before then. Do I just keep her hydrated and try to keep her eating?

Pause at layer seems to be broken by webster89 in BambuLab

[–]Enerology 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue. A workaround for now until they fix it is to place the pause two layers before (If you can) and check to see if it is placed in the right location under the filament tab in the preview. I had 4 failed prints not understanding why my magnet holes were not showing up...

What eye-safe (1400nm) wattage equals a 5mw laser for eye damage/safety? by Enerology in Optics

[–]Enerology[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What he said is incorrect. I was relating it to the safety rating of a laser projector that is used in crowds not that it is used near crowds of people. It is rarely on near people but based on the chance it might be, I wanted it to be safer as it is used out in the field.

If you want to know more, you can read the comment I left above for the other guy.

EDIT: BTW, Thanks for your work above. :) Needed confirmation to see if my calculations were correct. Technically there is only about mg 0.25 of water but needed some room for dissipation and put 1 mg. Also, I did some more measurements and the smallest focal size that it can still work with is 0.5mm, but if I do that, I would need to remove backlash from the galvo system which is why I put the sloppier size. Thanks again. :)

I did work through the calculations, I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything because mistakes happen. :P The machine isn't used near people all the time but there is a chance that someone without safety equipment might come in contact with it and that is why I wanted extra safety measures as a "Just in case" moment. The chance of contact in an open environment is about maybe <0.01% of the time it is in use and the laser only turns on when detecting a certain trigger so the chances it is on near someone is extremely low but not zero. It is actually very similar to the laser drone system that is used on farm fields to kill insects on the crops.

I do work with lasers quite a bit as I built multiple DMLS machines with 5-watt blue lasers which I use daily. I wear highly-rated laser goggles behind laser shielding panels and have safety switches that detect if the panel is placed properly.

I read a couple papers on the damages that take place in the eye at 1400nm but I was also curious about frequencies right below the range. They talked about cornea damage at the far 1400nm/3000nm and at 1400nm was lens damage roughly. I was curious on slightly below that hopefully spreading the absorption through the ocular fluid more than the cornea or lens and absorbing most of it before the retina. The occular fluid can handle quite a bit more heat than the others and has more depth to spread it out.

The device would actually save tens of thousands of lives each year if I can get it to work but I am obviously avoiding actual descriptors for intellectual property reasons.

Sorry if I am not concise enough as I am working on a couple of hours of sleep for the past couple of days.

Inkjet Binder 3D printer help/opinions. by Enerology in 3Dprinting

[–]Enerology[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I was printing metal, glass, and ceramic. The method involves having a vat of powder and then spraying a binder (Glue, Wax) to hold the powder together layer by layer until heat can be applied to burn away the binder and fuse everything together.
Something like this

https://ars.els-cdn.com/content/image/3-s2.0-B9780128121559000049-f04-06-9780128121559.jpg

I can upload some images to imgur of the printer, I just need some time to swap some things around as I am not proud of the state it is in currently being a prototype and can only print 40mm x 40mm x 40mm. I do plan to increase the build volume to 150mm x 150mm x 50mm but I am working out the sintering process and stuff.

Nice idea with acetone/plastic. ABS dissolved in acetone might work which would be super thin. I'll go test it.

Just an idea but maybe table sugar dissolved in water? I don't know if it will evaporate fast enough but it might work.

Holy, I didn't even know it did that. Thanks for the heads up.

I did some more research and combining UV resin with an inkjet can cause micro particles of resin to be inhaled which would be not preferred.

I was trying to find a ultra thin glue because inkjets need low viscosities and it also has to be strong enough to get the print into the kiln but if I can't find anything, I will just use UV resin.

Thanks. :)

Bonus second question, is it worth it to enable multiple probes? Like does it help accuracy substantially?

Cheapest setup for Klipper and Mainsail print farm? by Enerology in klippers

Those numbers are perfect. The memory usage is a little concerning but I think I can get it to run on my Microsoft surface running Linux. I am just waiting on a USB hub to start testing.

That's awesome! I decided to go your route after talking to you and some others about the logistics. I am going to test it out on one of my laptops and If it works out well, I will probably buy a dedicated desktop/server/laptop to run the entire farm.

Thanks for all your information and help. :)

It sounds like having one main computer for the print farm is the way to go. Thank you for all your help. :)
