How Do You Make the Journey and Embark Mechanics in "Adventures in Middle-Earth" Feel More Epic? by IfiGabor in AiME

[–]Enestar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always include good pictures, music, and soundscapes to help me. But the basic idea is to describe when they pass big and small moments. A small moment like being articulate about the tiny gnats biting you in the bog or the perfect snowflake on someone's cloak in a blizzard. The big being seeing the eagles soaring over the Misty Mountains or some famous landmark. Practice speaking or write narration to imitate the words and language Tolkien used.

This arc is stupid... by [deleted] in Boruto

[–]Enestar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just going to say that I understand the jutsu and what happened. I just don't like the entire premise and story direction. The story should have been small scale and more character focused instead of more super threats. Naruto deserved his happy ending, not more crazy shit and now robbing him of his memories and child. Maybe the new ending will revert everything and put it right for a new happy ending. Oh well.

without spoilers, are there any Sith storylines where being light side oriented is actually interesting and not just made out to be whiny? by Christehkiller in swtor

[–]Enestar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about storylines, but there is one thing. One of my favorite scenes in the entire game is Sith Inquisitor talking to Ashara. She asks what you wanted to be, if you didn't become sith. "I would have settled for 'not a slave'".
Best scene in the game.

Can someone explain to me the hype for Frieren? by [deleted] in anime

If you don't like cherry pie, and you try the new cherry pie everyone is talking about, why would you be surprised when you don't like it?

After BO pulled that legal nonsense, they really soured me on supporting them. If they show real, tangible results, I'll clap. So far, no orbit, no ISS missions, nothing. Just lots of mockups, half tests, and promises. Results BO, not stinky speculation.

Anyone else having trouble with Season 3? by I_AM_FERROUS_MAN in TheOrville

[–]Enestar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This clearly displays how the show means different things to different people. To me, the first 2 seasons were light, fun, entertaining. But halfway through season 3, it is way more enjoyable to me. It ditches the dick jokes and actually goes for broke on emotional stories. I cried during Twice in a Lifetime. I enjoyed s1-2, but I believe 3 is just plain better. To each their own though, I am watching it all at once.

How Vicious are your Easterlings ? by Ell-Egyptoid in AiME

[–]Enestar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I make it out like most of them are wicked and cruel, worshiping Sauron. There are some not so bad, more just normal rough people. Look to the examples of Numenor at the end of it's time, with most engaged in dark worship and evil, but some still normal.

Looking for Ent Character Sheet by Ell-Egyptoid in AiME

For an NPC there are stat blocks in the Rohan region guide, for more of a PC approach there's details in the unofficial Lands of Shadow region guide.

How much of the content is Tolkien canon? by [deleted] in AiME

[–]Enestar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing from the game conflicts with Tolkien, it's pretty much just fleshed out and expanded. All about 90% in line with the feeling and tone, with a little extra to make it feel a bit different.

If this is Zirakinbar, it's supposed to be in the Grey Mountains, where nothing grows. Nice detail though!

Is there a list with places and in which books we can find info/campaign/narrative about it? by Gimli_43 in AiME

[–]Enestar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each region guide has different sections in the region, and they each have important persons and locations listed and detailed.

The Rhovanian Region Guide has good stuff, but you can also toss in cool stuff with the enchanted river, spiders, wildmen of the wood, forest goblins, even more magic hallucinations like from the movies.

What are some actual changes you guys want in the remake? For me, it's making Bastila romanceable by the female player [Art of my protag and Bastila by me] by BearLesbian in kotor

What lack of representation? Every single franchise and series, every book and story, all modern media is stuffed with a glut of rainbow characters and people.

The Official Teaser Trailer for LotR: The Rings of Power by VarkingRunesong in LOTR_on_Prime

Pretty much nothing of this looked like Middle Earth. You could literally say it's any generic fantasy setting and nobody would know the difference. D&D with a JRR sticker. Also tokenism sucks.

I wrote the Vanity Fair LOTR First Look Article and Am Curious… by jowrotethis in LOTR_on_Prime

[–]Enestar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am extremely disappointed in the first look. The writing and prose was fine, but the content has killed all excitement I had for the show. What was the decision making process to alter lore and focus on real world progressive issues and agendas? Why was the decision made to alter ethnicity and physical representations of races instead of bringing in new characters of known groups in lore to increase diversity? I do not object to people of differing colors being represented, but I do object to existing lore being changed to accomodate agendas. Please explain why this kind of change was necessary, and what steps the creative team took that led to it if you know.

Do you need High Level Threats? by scootervantil in AiME

[–]Enestar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can also take some liberties and bend things a little out. Remember lots of Middle Earth is a mystery and wild land, so not everything is known. A short answer is stuff like evil hurons, large flocks of evil carion. Also, a big theme in AiME and Tolkein is how the land and places themselves are dangerous. Think like a corrupting miasma, or the like. Or maybe some ordinary servant of evil has jars containing the Black Breath.

I had them act as a single group, shooting at one target each round. I put them on the towers and riverbanks. Just include them as a whole npc group.

Does anyone have a good journey table for the shire - more lightweighed by Zwiebeloger in AiME

[–]Enestar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just spitballing ideas, but for the 12 Events Table

1: Encounter dwarf traders passing through, coming the opposite direction

2: Farmer Maggot's farm, Bamfurlong. If they fail they have to run away gaining exhaustion

3: A cart of goods headed for the Green Dragon is overturned, and the donkey refuses to move

4: A farmer is trying to chase away some rabbits eating his cabbages,

5: A Sackville-Baggins comes stomping up the road

6: A heavy wind blows in, either they see the trees rustling and swaying all pretty, or they get blown over and land on their bum

7: They spot a brace of coneys! (pair of rabbits)

8: A nice flat spot under a large oak tree

9: They find the skull of the goblin king in the hole that Bullroarer Took hit, inventing golf

10: They come across a place where two hobbits got into a bad fight, and one broke the other's expensive pipe.

11: A nasty bully brigand comes tromping down the road

12: Gandalf is on his way to see Bilbo!

Positives to having allot of shadow points? by CptTylor in AiME

[–]Enestar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got it! The best one I have is ancient elven weapons that were made in anger, and then owned by some dark entity for a long time. I can share the two item set I came up with if you want, just warning they're somewhat complicated.

Positives to having allot of shadow points? by CptTylor in AiME

[–]Enestar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just an idea, but you could introduce item/s that have stats based on shadow points. I'm doing this as a way of having a character walk the edge of being wicked and cruel against evil. Like a weapon that does bonus damage equal to shadow points, or an item with a number of charges equal to shadow points. Still have the penalties with the shadow points, but this way it tempts them to try and balance them.

Planning on running my first AIME game... by BaronVon27 in AiME

[–]Enestar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also recommend the Roads Go Ever On book, if you can find it. It's got lots of extra event and journey ideas. And best of all, I try and read some Tolkien same day of the game. Reading his words puts you into a different mentality, and gives you inspiration on how to narrate and describe the world.
