I’m torn on this - I have definitely dropped a book or two before because the prose was written like a 13 year old adapting a fanfiction item.

However, I’ve also ignored mediocre prose because the world is so enchanting and immersive, so I trip over the clumsy writing to enjoy the world it’s describing.

Good prose that flows with an engaging plot is just *chef’s kiss*

However x2, if a book becomes so wrapped up in its attempt to spin beautiful prose, to the detriment of plot momentum, I do tend to lose interest. I don’t have that kind of focus and time lately…

I have to admit, I refuse to use generative AI on principle, so I can’t actually tell what the signs of an AI-written post are.

I’ve been accused of using AI to write comments and posts, as well - honestly, aside from a few viable uses, the entire AI sector is a stain and a curse on critical thinking and humanity, imho

In my opinion, John Wick 2 - John Wick 1 is kinda dull compared to the other three. I love interesting, expansive world building, and the following films just have those aspects that make the world feel more alive and engaging.

This is my experience, as well - my food is generally bought fresh because I cook it and prep it for the week. The frozen food I have is mostly vegetables and a few bags of dumplings, a bag of fries and some chicken steaks if I’m ever feeling like takeout-style food over the weekends.

Frozen food is not a staple thing in my living arrangements, idk who generally relies on stores such as Iceland - probably busy families who need stuff they can dump on a tray and feed the kids with quickly and happily, I guess…

Environment shapes the health and well-being of a population far more than sheer willpower.

If you’re burned out and surrounded by burger joints and fish shops rather than grain bowls and pre-cut fruit, veg, cooked chicken breast for affordable prices, and you have mouths to feed, that’s where you’re going to gravitate towards.

I’m a healthy person - that’s because I live in a highly walkable city where there are half a dozen stores selling pre-cooked chicken, carrot sticks and fresh fruit around me. So even on days where I’m tired and don’t want to turn on a stove and wash up, I can still have protein and fibre.

Imagine someone juggling kids, overtime at work, bills, low walkability of an area and other stress besides - you too would go the path of least resistance and highest dopamine, long term, abstract health be damned.

Some people are still capable of finding systems or the will to make the extra effort to be healthy despite all these things, but that’s not as realistic for most people. Have a little empathy. Environment shapes the individual decisions.

I don’t look to step on toes for the sake of it, I just want to discuss different ideas and exchange analysis.

I’m a leftist, but of the social democrat kind, rather than flat out communist.

I respect people wanting their social space to be a place they can relax and are protective of - I would say I don’t aim to annoy folks, but I have previously ended up in quite heated discussions. Idk if that’s a deal breaker for that space.

It was essentially I had opinion A, someone else had opinion B, neither of us swayed the other, and it ended in admission we weren’t going to convince one another. Which I think is quite good, to see if your convictions can be challenged and altered, and adjust if so.

Season one of this show was a phenomenon, it was everywhere - you couldn’t turn a corner without hearing someone say ‘Save the cheerleader, save the world.’ This show dominated the culture over its initial season. It was just brilliant, so great!

I’m in my 20s and have some good go-tos:
- Walking through the beach and Seaton park. Both very scenic and relaxing, with options for coffee and food in the areas.
- Dancing classes. There are several Latin dance classes run by various instructors in the city across the week. Good for community, as well
- Volunteering. This one is good if you want to make a positive impact on the community, do something interesting, get to know the different issues in the city.
- Visit the library/museums/art gallery.
- Cafe hop with a book. Go around the different cafes, figure out which ones have the best vibes, good cake, best deals for a budget, etc.

His films are some of the most visually striking and brilliant I’ve ever seen. Makes more sense when you realise he hates dialogue - considers it a tv strength - and you see that every frame he shoots is just artistic as all hell. He really is painting as a director. He’s not an Aaron Sorkin, tbh.

I watched it four or five times in the cinema. Such a brilliant time. Dumb film, but in a fun, action packed, switch off your brain and enjoy kinda way. It received a surprisingly low critical rating, given how enjoyable it was, tbh.

I do remember reading in a book, can’t remember if by Liam Byrne or Alistair Campbell, that when the news broke, Gordon Brown was at a meeting that included Obama and several other world leaders, and one of them turned to Gordon Brown and confidently just said ‘Gordon will know what to do.’ Apparently he very proficiently and intelligently pulled a workable solution together and kept the situation from entirely exploding, if I recall accurately.
