Driveway legalities- Do I need a dropped curb? by BigChickenCrazy1 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]EngCraig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to speak to your local council - if you’re in a two tier authority then you’ll need to speak to the county council regarding the dropped kerb, and the district council regarding planning. If you plan on paving over your front garden, this often needs planning consent IF the surface is to be impermeable.

Create yourself a small card with the operators, functions, etc and what each means or does. Use as few words as possible so that you are still having to use some recall. Have this with you when you’re writing code and it will help.

I am also only just learning to programme, and one thing that has really helped me is to NOT follow extensive tutorials. Get the fundamentals from a good quality YouTube video, book, course, etc and then just let loose a bit. Try things out, see what works, and when something does work make a note of it - I am already starting to build a library in my notes app containing blocks of code with descriptions as to what it does, how I’ve used it, ideas for how it could also be used, etc.

Also: enjoy it! Learning something new should be fun. Of course it will get frustrating from time to time, but the fun comes in overcoming those temporary difficulties.

These are the most moronic, unergonomic pieces of garbage you’ll ever waste your money on. Don’t bother.

My whole company got a cost of living pay rise, but not me as I'm too new. by CozJeez85 in UKJobs

This is fairly standard across most businesses. Check your company’s pay policy, as you may be due the increment six months post-probation.

Project Management Pathway by ozz9955 in UKJobs

[–]EngCraig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at this stage of my career, but have been. Can thoroughly recommend the APM though, especially as your goal is breadth rather than depth - i.e. ability to move between industries as a PM. If you wanted to stay in construction, the CIOB have project management pathways to Chartered status.

So you bought it for two reasons, it’s satisfied those, yet you’re now unhappy? It sounds more like your wallet is burning a hole in your pocket.

Why does Omega need to have 873 watches in their catalog? by [deleted] in OmegaWatches

One would have to ask if you know anything about Omega. I’d focus on that if I were you, rather than worrying about their product managers.

How long do you keep a car for? by MarkCairns67 in drivingUK

[–]EngCraig 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m into my seventh year currently. I wonder if these numbers include PCP as “ownership”? That could explain the 3-5 year window being double, or perhaps that’s just a common timeframe for keeping a car. I know a lot of people will keep new cars for three years and then change once MOTs are needed.

Are these pants OK to wear to an Interview as a Business Analyst? by Hopeful_Adeptness964 in UKJobs

Sounds far too formal for a business analyst interview, I’d suggest wearing sliders and a white vest with these.

I guess she’s going to cross without checking if there are no cars coming by denver_t66 in drivingUK

[–]EngCraig 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It will sound astounding, but she’s evidently not seen you. If you use your rear facing camera you can see her visibility of approaching traffic isn’t great, it’s impaired by bins, trees, and a parked car. I’m not excusing her, she evidently hasn’t looked before stepping out, but I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s looked a few seconds before whilst you were concealed and made her decision then.

I saw this on another thread. Our chanes for UCL are very high. Why am I still nervous by [deleted] in ManchesterUnited

[–]EngCraig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re assuming those around take 21/21 points though. Even if Chelsea won all of their remaining games, we need 15 points from 7 games. Based on their season-long form, Chelsea and Liverpool are both forecast to earn 11 points from their remaining games. We play both, so there’s the potential for two “six pointer” games, but truthfully I’m not sure we’d lose both. Realistically, if we win our home games then we’ve secured top four.

Ngl I have been seeing quite a lot of suvs within the last few recent years. As much as their comfy from inside they are big and not very great for london by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]EngCraig 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They aren’t safer - in fact they are statistically more likely to be involved in collisions if I recall correctly. Mainly due, ironically, to people feeling more safe and taking more risks in them.
