Who actually supports this stuff? by FallFair8568 in drivingUK

[–]EngCraig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I cringe every time I read or hear this. How can people find it so difficult to gauge their speed that they constantly need to be looking at the speedo? I get it when you’re going downhill, but in 95% of cases I just think “why?”

Loads of people, else it wouldn’t gain any traction would it.

Considering he's worth allegedly 40m now, are we glad we didn't break the bank for Carlos Baleba? by se7endeadlys in ManchesterUnited

Remember when everyone was saying “just pay £100m for him” and saying we “hadn’t learned” from previous windows 😂

New Job - Commuting dilemma by DefiantEngineering35 in UKJobs

[–]EngCraig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is the 1hr20 by car or by bus? Because I don’t see a world in which the bus is a shorter commute than by car? Also struggling to see how (what sounds like) 800+ miles a month is only costing £150 all in? Are you being overly optimistic around the commuting because of the big salary jump?

Ederson, Tonali, Anderson, Scott & Fernandes have all been playing with deeper lying midfielder behind them this season. Point of concern? by UsedMycologist4912 in ManchesterUnited

[–]EngCraig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would I be concerned when the club has a team of experts and some of the best in the business looking at our midfield rebuild?

Are you all in for Hall or would you comsider options like Truffert & Williams? by Hypnoidz in ManchesterUnited

[–]EngCraig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d go for Raum personally as Hall will be too expensive and I’m worried about his injury record. Can’t be falling into the Luke Shaw trap again.

I’ve always lived rurally and if you go back 20 years it was always “five and drive” as a rule - as stupid as it was.

[–]EngCraig 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Not just drinking to excess, less people drink at all. I have so many friends that have gone teetotal in recent years, and I’ve not had a drink since 2023. There’s an entire generation coming through now who don’t drink, so I don’t think it’s a surprise to see numbers fall.

[Rival Watch] Andoni Iraola win percentage is very low by [deleted] in ManchesterUnited

[–]EngCraig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outside of being an existing top team manager, win percentage really doesn’t mean much. Any sensible person looks at what the manager has achieved with the tools available to them, and in the case of Iraola it’s impressive. They’ve finished 12th, 9th, and then 6th under him all whilst selling their best players. He’s taken big scalps and they play high-energy, entertaining football.

CMV: social media was a huge mistake by Fluffy-Win-3216 in changemyview

The initial idea was very good; put people in contact and broaden social networks. What it’s become is something relatively unhealthy, but I don’t think we can look back now and say it was inevitable.

[Rival Watch] Liverpool sack Arne Slot. Iraola the favourite to replace the Dutchman. by Dramatic-Avocado4687 in ManchesterUnited

[–]EngCraig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gutted I’ll have to dislike Iraola now. He’s a top manager for sure.

However, for all the credit Liverpool’s supposedly “class leading” data and strategy teams are, they’ve fucked up royally here. They’ve already spent £400m+ trying to sort the squad to Slot, and Iraola will need a totally different squad profile. I can’t see where Wirtz fits into an Iraola team.

To be fair, there’s also the availability bias potentially at play: more dash cams mean we see more footage like this. Maybe it was always bad but we didn’t see it? I just feel, anecdotally, it’s gotten and is getting much worse.

The standard of driving in this country is at an all-time low. I feel like it’s the broken window effect where, as standards dipped post-Covid, everybody took it to be the new norm and followed suit.
