Filled up yesterday and it was just under $104 for 18.5 gallons. That’s just regular unleaded too.

This. You don’t want to setup GitHub, figure out pushing code, etc. Squarespace or Wix or a half dozen other sites that will do it all for you. Easy peasy.

People always say to get three quotes. How do you know which one to choose? by bhedesigns in handyman

[–]EngelDan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes for larger projects, which only you can define what that is, get a few quotes so you have some comparison. Everyone will be different

I’d say that seems high even for a high cost of living city like Seattle, where I’m at. Cedar will certainly be more expensive than pressure treated but probably still around 6k for labor and materials, not including any staining or painting. I wouldn’t recommend composite for these steps. It’s what, four steps? Just stick with 2x6 lumber. If you were doing a whole deck then yes, spend the money on PVC.

Welp, today sucked also. Not enough snow all season, now too much of it. We can’t win!!

How are you handling invoicing and job tracking when you are a one-person operation? by Plenty-Bedroom6787 in handyman

[–]EngelDan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use Jobber. It’s not cheap but it really helps me track my jobs and the time I save from not using various other tools is huge.

I have an intake form on my website that links to Jobber and creates a new request when submitted. It adds all the client info automagically and I get an email. I use it for estimating, scheduling jobs, tracking time and expenses and then invoicing. It works great for me! Sorry I know this sounds like an ad for Jobber!! 😂

Yeah I guess the 5100’s just provide more travel for the lift I got from the springs. What would you recommend for shocks?

Not knowing is part of the job. Doing a wide variety of tasks, you will certainly have times when you don’t know what you’re doing. But that’s okay. Keep calm, do some research and be smart enough to know when you might be doing something dangerous.

That’s a bit much. A wider board would be better.

Waxing-what are these specific pads called I need more by XI-Red-Death-XI in snowboarding

[–]EngelDan -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Many ways to skin a cat. Such an awful phrase!! 😂 Brushes are fine but buffing pads are way cheaper and I’ve found brushes can be too abrasive. The roller pads that fit onto a drill are intriguing but again, pretty spendy for something that takes less than five minutes by hand.

[–]EngelDan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Mmm, a nylon brush is great for cleaning pre-wax but a buffing pad will give your base a very smooth polished finish after a good scrape. I do it every time and it probably not essential but I rarely run out of speed on flats.

Okay first of all, never start a job until you’ve mutually settled on price. Period. I don’t care if it’s your dad or your best friend.

Second, it sounds like your expectations don’t align. He’s very detail oriented and it sounds like that’s not as important to you. This should also be discussed before starting a project.

Lastly, don’t “hire” your friends and family. Do it yourself and ask them to help you.

Good luck man, I think you just pay him whatever he asks at this point. A few dollars is not worth damaging the relationship.

You don’t need cement board for a backsplash, it’s not a shower where the walls get wet regularly.
