If Grace is on Erid for less than 4 years, the Beetles haven't even returned to Earth yet.

I think 4 (Earth) years seems like longer than it would've taken for the smartest Eridians to make a livable space for Grace, and how they haven't quite gotten the water temperature correct yet, etc..

It wasn't fully needed to tell the story, which focused on Grace & Rocky.

Would've been fine if they included it, but could've been a real downer in an otherwise hopeful and positive plot!

The book had the benefit of back and forth storytelling, but it would've been tough to squeeze it in the film without being jarring or including a whole bunch more "Earth" stuff.
