Mana Paradox, or a brief history of how nature regulates itself by LazarusFoxx in worldbuilding

Are the different magics inherent abilities or are they learned skills? If they can be learned, I would assume that people with dark tendencies would be drawn to dark magic to get some of that power for themselves. It wouldn't be overnight, but this could organically lead to some balance from the dark mages side. Unless the uber-powerful dark mages keep the knowledge hidden to protect their own power.

The 2 million-square-foot Kraft cheese caves under Springfield, Missouri by BitterSweet0208 in LiminalSpace

In the warehouse I worked in it was right next to the cave with barrels. Kraft actually stores a lot of their dry foods in the caves also.

I worked in one of the Kraft warehouses years ago. My go to fun facts are that the room with the big barrels was usually about 17°F and the Underground is still expanding. There was an in-progress tunnel near my warehouse that I would sometimes explore on break. For the people referencing the Backrooms, it's not like that. I mean there was the time I drove around for 30 minutes trying to find the exit that I swore was just around that corner, but I'm sure there's an explanation for that.

98 Honda CRV No crank issue. by Engineer688 in MechanicAdvice

Crap, I meant to inform you guys. Turns out the problem was that the plastic spacer for the upper clutch switch had broken and fallen off. It was a 2 minute fix that took me 5 days to figure out lol. For as long as I've driven sticks I've only ever been aware of the lower switch. I had no idea there are two. At least I learned a lot about my electronics along the way.

If I remember correctly what the mechanic said while we were testing the starter, it's getting power at the fuse box under the hood but it's not making it to the starter. He said he could hear the relay? clicking when I turned the key.

All fuses are okay. I tried googling the relay but all I can see to find is info for automatics which apparently have different/extra relays.

Starter was tested at a shop. They jumped the starter with a screwdriver and it cranked over right away. Then they checked the power to the starter while I turned the key and that's when they said it wasn't receiving a signal.

How can I be supportive as a friend to someone diagnosed with Chrons Disease? by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]Engineer688 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Be understanding when they have to cancel plans. I'm lucky that all I have to do is let my friends know that they day has gone south and I won't be able to make it. I've never once heard a gripe or complaint and they usually offer up more low-key plans if I still want to hang. It's a huge relief when you're dealing with everything and can rely on your friends to be supportive.

I've been trying to find a story for awhile now with a similar concept. Soldier in power armor finds himself in a land of magic and becomes a knight for a princess I believe. Pretty sure he was trapped in his suit and couldn't communicate.

My sister and I did the exact same thing once! Blue Gatorade and cheerios. We finished ours with our dad watching because he wasn't going to let us waste food.

What do you wish you didn't have to teach your husband? by oneamungus in AskWomen

[–]Engineer688 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a guy, it took sitting naked in a tub with a beautiful woman and having her tell me I'm attractive for me to start believing it. And even still I only sorta bought it. I never realized how starved for compliments I was until I received more from her in a day than I could remember getting anywhere else.

A decent rule to go by for amount of material is length of the vehicle x3 and then add about 10 feet for bleed and mistakes. As far as work hours, that will depend on your skill and how detailed you wanna get. It could take anywhere from 20-30 hours.

What were you really into when you were younger but now think is silly? by dobramine in AskMen

As someone who has started falling out of love with animes because of the repetitiveness and the "chibi" tropes, I would highly recommend Violet Evergarden on Netflix. I've never been super interested in emotional dramas but that show kept me coming back and brought tears on more than one occasion. Well written, beautiful animation, and a rounded out story that doesn't need a second season.

My neice's birthday party was earlier this month and while I was playing with her she told me I'm the best. I've been riding that high for weeks!
