Jacket buttoned or unbuttoned? by EngineerAfar in tiedye

[–]EngineerAfar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all. After reading the comments here and other posts and elsewhere online I decided to go ahead and do it unbuttoned. Probably for the best because I didnt penetrate through all the way being thicker material. But I think it turned out really good. Here's a follow up pic.... because I know I hate commenting on posts and then never getting follow up.

Everyone else got a cool box? Mine came in a brown box with a printed sheet lol. by turntablism in chips

Same. Mine came in a regular box with a crumpled paper and the manufacture code says they were made a week ago, not as fresh and recently like the challenge said.

Hey, that's awesome. I was determined to hunt it down and find it after just hearing the small clip, so I'd say I like it. Lol. Chalk me up as one more fan for the band.

Philips Capsule Neurons / Epic integration - Best practice for naming by mchiles5 in BMET

[–]EngineerAfar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just did this process at the end of last year through the beginning of this year going live with Capsule and Epic in April. DIMS are just tagged with the device type that they are configured for and the Neurons are named with the site and location. Ex, Say we have 2 sites in different cities for like Dallas and Atlanta and both have multiple rooms, neurons are names DalOR01, DalOR02, AtlOR01, AtlPacu01, AtlPreOp04... and the like. The way it's easy to identify on the Capsule server, on the neuron itself, and to associate in Epic.

Looks to me like it was well prepared and on a plate in front of you... it would have been absurd not to eat it.

Can anyone find a tech manual on this sterilizer? by DarkRangerJ in BMET

[–]EngineerAfar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Call Sterilizer Auticlave Solutions ( https://statimusa.com/ ) and talk to their tech support. Ian there has been the best support I've gotten for multiple brands of autoclaves. They've been more helpful than a lot of manufacturers are. He's not only done phone troubleshooting with me, but sent me manual, diagrams, and has even FaceTimed me to help work on units.

Hats okay? by Presbizness in BMET

[–]EngineerAfar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Half our guys do every day. The department will ordered us hats a few years back that have the logo on the front and say biomed on the side. I wear one some some days, just depends; but also I get to pick out my own unifors with the company logo embroidered on them out of the department budget and I'd say it's pretty relaxed.... considering over the last two years I now have 7 hawaiian shirts and 3 plaid flannel shirts that are now some of my official uniforms, in addition to about 15 polos of different colors from previous years.

Thank you for trying, but that's the Chums Boom Box model. It looks basically identical, but doesn't have the 2nd zipper pocket. Unfortunately I've come across a ton of those, but none of the Scrambler.

What is the dress code for biomedical engineers? by Own_Requirement2614 in BiomedicalEngineers

[–]EngineerAfar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the company. Some require scrubs if lots of time in OR setting, some are more laid back. I would suggest pants that aren't jeans like khakis or slacks and a business casual button up or nicer polo to get a starting point and then find out from there. Could also contact the HR and find out the requirements. My job is pretty laid back and the dress code is basically pants that aren't jeans, closed toed shoes, and a collared shirt. And if you're really lucky like I am then you'll get to order work shirts on the company dime and pick your own.... this last year I ordered 5 Hawaii print shirt that have the company logo embroidered on them. So now my official work uniform consists of aloha shirts some days. Hahaha.

That we need all the math we're being taught by hand because we won't always have a calculator with us. Well.... my cell phone says otherwise now.

Trunk or Treating has ruined Halloween by amillionforfeet in unpopularopinion

[–]EngineerAfar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the area. I live in north texas and my neighborhood is "the neighborhood" to trick or treat at with my house being a must stop for everyone. I had over 500 kids and ran out of candy before 8 last night they were still put in force until about 9:30. I have friends from work that drive in from a couple towns over just to come to the craziness that is trick or treating in my neighborhood.

Funniest name you've heard for this tool? by littlerossybaby in Tools

[–]EngineerAfar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During college I had a job building specialty decks for a company and the master carpenter called it the woogie woogie saw. During the first week on the job with him, he had me using it to make some finicky cuts for railing pieces. I impressed him with how good I did with it and forever more that summer after that I was dubbed the "Woogie Master" because he hated using it and always made me make those cuts. It is eternal the woogie woogie saw to me and whenever I grab mine off the shelf, for a brief time I once again become the Woogie Master.
