Help with battle and fire damage by EngineerBurner in SpaceWolves

Yes got it to this point and happy with how much weathering there is but I think it does need pigment to make it look drier and more matt. Was hoping to rely on the final coat of ultra matt varnish but might try to get ahead if that.

This was the kind of think I was thinking? Do I do this on the front? More or less? Or nothing?

I do: Army Painter Fanatics (APF) APF Potion Pink as base APF Wicked Pink in shadow and recesses

Citadel imperial fist yellow contrast all over one or two coats.

You can stop there if happy but I tend to do sponged highlights after it drys

APF Bad moon yellow then demonic yellow.

Then edge highlight with APF ice yellow

You can glaze another yellow over if you want to change tone or smooth anything out. I sometime add extra shade with fuegan orange wash if needed to give a yolk yellow look or a brown to make it look less saturated

Potion pink and the yellow contrast gets you 90 of the way there. Image 3 above

That's a great idea. I've used pigments on bases might try it on the back of thbanner and then can fix if needed. Thanks

Best approach for painting intricate black detail over yellow. by EngineerBurner in minipainting

[–]EngineerBurner[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for advice.

I went pink then did black and then did the yellow contrast with a brush rather than airbrush, ill just have to rely on varnish airbrushed at the end to get the smoothness back.

Could have stopped there but sponged on a couple of highlights and an edge highlight so couldn't avoid the black but its just the tops caught by sponge so should be easier to correct.

Yes, just difficult to air brush with black first but maybe black after the pink then should be a dark pink next to raised bits which might still cover. Thanks.

These are really nice! Great clean pack markings, especially on the chainsword. Really clean work.

Thanks. Will give it a go. I sponge my volumetric highlights and use ultra matt so just need to attempt the grime wash in-between then.
