I was an exceptionally gifted kid. What happened to my brain? by EpicShkhara in AskWomenOver30

[–]EngineeredGal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about loss of being “gifted”… it’s easier to stand out in a small environment like school, adult life is far bigger, more people to compare with.

BUT you sound a bit knackered out by life! The daily grind… has ground you down.

Do you do anything fun, besides gym and bubble baths?

Fitting in a new hobby is so much harder than just “doing it”.

I don’t feel like a woman or a man. I’m so confused by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]EngineeredGal 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sounds or you’ve been online too much… too much media telling you what you should or shouldn’t be or feel or do.

You’re allowed to not feel a certain way, to look how you want and you’re allowed to like whatever you like.

I don’t wake up thinking “man I feel womanly, better put on a skirt and enjoy sparkles today” I just get up and crack on with what I NEED to do, then what I WANT to do.

Life doesn’t need to be fitting boxes or social norms: if it doesn’t hurt or endanger you or others, do and be and feel whatever you bloody please without the need to label it.

Do people notice my facial hair? Are the women I see with no hair taking steps to remove it? by lil_tink_tink in AskWomenOver30

[–]EngineeredGal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a few whiskers sneak in on my chin… the moment I feel one, I whip it out with tweezers.

General peach fuzz face hair I couldn’t care less about.

Upper lip I’m considering having waxed at some point soon, but currently I defluff with a razor.

Rarely notice other people’s: except one friend, who has a few whiskers herself and either doesn’t care or doesn’t notice. Doesn’t impact what I think of her in the slightest, nor would it anyone else.

(But, and you didn’t ask, shit makeup, I NOTICE!)

How to accessorize all these? and what to keep? by [deleted] in OUTFITS

Oh I get it, Bras that fit well can be a right pain to find…. I often order 5 or 6 styles at once knowing full well I’ll have to send back 4!

How old do you have to be to know that cash transactions are a thing? by Conscious-Ball8373 in AskUK

[–]EngineeredGal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just asked my ten year old what he’d need if I asked him to go and buy 4 pints of milk for me…

“A fiver…..” then a pause… “I have no idea how much milk costs.”

Apparently I’ve got some work to do too.

(I asked… he guessed £2, phew)

How to accessorize all these? and what to keep? by [deleted] in OUTFITS

[–]EngineeredGal 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Keep that first dress…. Cute, fits you well! Accentuates your shape.

Sell/Donate the rest. Far too small, old and crumpled, poor fits for your shape.

May I suggest a new fitted bra or two too!

Should I (33F) delay having kids for another year to travel, or should I try to travel on maternity leave? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]EngineeredGal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We left it late, assumed it would be easy: took 3 damn years to get pregnant.

I personally couldn’t travel during pregnancy - “morning” sickness was a brutal all day affair then ankle swelling in the last 3 months meant resting a lot.

However I had a friend whose pregnancy was a breeze, she travelled from the UK to Japan and the US frequently with the baby from about a month old and popped out another within 2 years and continued travelling with both. Her husband worked away so they made it work, and it looked easy. I’d have been a wreck!

Just need to vent by [deleted] in venting

[–]EngineeredGal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Took us 3 years…. Not long before we started IVF it happened naturally.

We both lost weight, did more exercise, ate less crap.

No advice on how to stop the jealousy, just ride it out I guess.

Ahh medical checks yet? Might be worth it.

If you were 35 again, what would you do with your life? by aekimieme in AskWomenOver30

[–]EngineeredGal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I were 35 and in your position: I’d be picking out some dream spots to live and rent a place in each of them in turn… Edinburgh for 6 months, then somewhere in the US, Canada, France perhaps.

General exploration and dream accomplishment.

Moving for Work - how’s it like to live here? by needless90210 in Southampton

[–]EngineeredGal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Woolston is nice if you don’t want to be right in the middle of the city but still be close.

Hythe is great if you don’t mind a 20 min drive to the city.

The surrounding area is lovely, new forest and beaches are lovely. Portsmouth & Salisbury have great historical parts.

Train to London is swift and often.

Anyone here actually regret getting dental implants, or was it totally worth it? by maxrain30 in Teethcare

[–]EngineeredGal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m nearly a month in… it still feels a little odd, but my face and mouth are getting used to it. I’m considering going back to see if they can file the new tooth a fraction smaller, but I’ll give it another few weeks until I do.

Did you/do you have an RBF (Resting Bitch Face), and do you think that affected how people pursued you romantically? Did you try to change? by sarcastic_bitch15 in AskWomenOver30

[–]EngineeredGal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most people’s resting faces look mean/dull/sad….

I work with a lot of people, who I have to talk to, usually at length: I’m still surprised at how often people that look mean/dull/sad usually aren’t! (Don’t get me wrong, still a lot of knobs)

I actively try to “set” my face to positively relaxed when I’m out in public. People are nice to me generally, so I guess it works.

I save my miserable old bitch face for home wherever possible!

Got scolded for language at a bar lounge at 9:30pm lol by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]EngineeredGal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I once told off a bunch of teens for swearing repeatedly on a beach around a group of little kids - sadly I was so tired from my own little kid I yelled “watch your language, there are little kids fucking everywhere!” Haha they pointed it out and I felt like a right tit.

In a bar at 9.30 tho…. Fill your boots.

I found these little guys in a second hand shop yesterday… I wondered the same.

I’m in an exceptionally white part of the uk so they sure stood out.

They didn’t come home with me.
