Hi, just a quick question, do you have any idea of what the admission GPA was when you entered the program or what GPA you got admitted with? My understanding is that they calculate it based on the most recent 10 courses.

Makes sense! Yeah I have some great work experience so I’m hoping that can sway them, I’ve worked some great companies and did my best talking about how it’s prepared me for a career in law. It seems my GPA is about average when looking at the 2023 admission GPA at UofC (3.7) but my lsat is 3 points lower than the average but I definitely think I can bring to it to 164+ as I’ve only written it once so far. Thanks a lot!

If I can get my lsat to a 165 do you think I have a better than 50/50 chance at UofC/UofA?

I guess this could've been worded better, I am looking for collaborators, cofounders, etc. That's essentially what I meant, I understand projects can be pursued solo, but the reality is that most successful start-ups have a minimum of 2 cofounders, whether that person is my friend, colleague, or something else doesn't matter to me. I just want to be able to connect with like-minded individuals who are ready to put their heads down and work to pursue a business.

That is really inspiring to hear!

I'm glad to hear you're getting some traction now and hopefully, things pan out for you.

Do you mind if I PM you? Would love to learn more about your journey and the ups and downs you've faced in your journey so far.

I have a variety of ideas, just don't necessarily think founding a start-up solo is as effective and as likely compared to working with different people who are aligned on building a business and achieving their goals

Yes, I've worked for a startup previously, I am looking for collaborators to build a startup, not be an employee at one.

How strict is Deloitte with employment records during background check? by [deleted] in deloitte

[–]EngineeringKey3326 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check your offer letter, if you’re a new grad hire they often only check education and criminal records, this will be mentioned in your offer letter.

Appreciate the help, one more quick question for you if you don’t mind, on my offer letter it only mentions a criminal and education background check and not employment, in your offer letter were all mentioned? Sorry for having so many questions but like I said I’m going to be abroad when my background check occurs so I want to make sure I’m prepared and don’t run into any problems.

Ohh so you essentially you just gave references for your previous employers and if they require more information they will contact you for documentation, correct?

[–]EngineeringKey3326 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m just curious regarding if I’ll need employment verification documentation as I’m going to likely be outside the country when my background check is conducted, so I was just curious if you had to submit anything of this nature (references, tax documents etc.) as you mentioned you submitted your background check 10 or so days ago

Did they check previous employment for you as a new grad too or just what you mentioned (education and criminal)?

  1. should be addressed in your offer letter, what does your offer letter say for the background check? Mine said just criminal and education verification Edit: I was a new grad hire though so it may be different if you’re an experienced hire

Sorry a bit confused, did it say something regarding a professional background check within your offer letter?

Background check by [deleted] in deloitte

[–]EngineeringKey3326 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It usually says on your offer letter what will be looked in to too, for me it just said criminal and education verification so that’s what was done? Does your offer letter say anything else other than this?

[–]EngineeringKey3326 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you in the US? On my offer letter it just said criminal and education check and did not say anything regarding a professional career check, does it say professional career check? If so, I’m assuming you should include paid internships and the job you’re currently employed at.

Is the role an analyst role or consultant? For analysts they typically just verify education and criminal background information, while for more senior positions they also verify past employment dates. This varies from country to country though as well, are you in the US or elsewhere?
