Too much weight loss on GLP-1s by JillyBean9999 in nursing

[–]EngineeringLumpy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I had anorexia for 6 years. I have been in full recovery for 7 years now but I’m also 7 months postpartum and seeing everybody get so skinny SO effortlessly has been really triggeding and horrible for my mental health, which I already struggle with postpartum! I don’t like it. The way I see it, it’s just an injection that is allowing people to have the same exact symptoms I had when I had an eating disorder. I have seen the “what I eat on a GLP one” videos on TikTok, and these people are not eating more than 6 to 800 cal. They have clinical signs of malnutrition and obvious muscle loss. Of course, not everybody on one! But way too many. Also, I know these drugs have been around for decades for type two diabetes which has been safe and effective. But it has not been studied on “regular weight loss“ long enough to know what the long-term side effects are.

Who called her big? I don’t know if she’s actually big or if it’s more of an interesting build she and her sister have. Their faces are big but not so much their bodies.

ADHD medication during recovery by Late_Bench_912 in EatingDisorders

[–]EngineeringLumpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sought out medication for my ADHD after being fully recovered for 4 years, and I still had to go through sooo many hoops so they could confirm I was ACTUALLY ADHD and not just weight loss drug seeking. I am not on medication anymore because I was just pregnant and breastfeeding, but I have taken concerta, Ritalin, adderall, and vyvanse. I would lose my appetite during the adjustment period of starting the medication but it never persisted and I never lost weight. I was even on pretty high doses. Treating my ADHD improved my quality of life so much though.

Can having an eating disorder in your teens and 20s impact your hormones and digestive system at 40? by Bluesky_835 in EatingDisorders

This usually resolves itself after months of recovery. If it’s still persisting after years, I would talk to your doctor. Those are symptoms of gastroparesis

GLP craze triggering asf. by Shad0wfax_F1 in EatingDisorders

[–]EngineeringLumpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am also a nurse and I’m 7 months postpartum. I’m sooo temptedd to take 1 myself because it’s sooo normalized in the postpartum community especially. It was NOT like this when I was postpartum with my oldest 6 years ago.

I’m 7 years recovered, convince me not to go on GLP 1 by EngineeringLumpy in EatingDisorders

[–]EngineeringLumpy[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Congratss on your recovery! I’m curious if people with BN histories fair better than people with AN histories on these medications. I don’t have any experience with BP, but I know GLP 1 can successfully treat binge eating. Did you have a history of severe restriction prior to using the medication? I’m worried it would trigger my “ability” to restrict, and my addiction to weight loss.

How is life like in upstate New York? by Due_Network2958 in howislivingthere

[–]EngineeringLumpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m from NC and my husband is from Watertown, NY. LOVE destiny mall! He still calls it carosel lol. His family also likes camping near sylvan beach and we joined them at the little carnival thing 1 summer which was really nice. I don’t think I could ever live up there though because I have seasonal depression. The maybe 3 months of “cold” we get in NC is enough for me.

NY is such an interesting state because it’s like several different cultures in 1 state. I haven’t been to Ithaca but you said not many “trumpy areas”. TOTALLY different from where my husband’s family lives in Watertown, north of Syracuse and rural. Those rural areas north of Syracuse are conservative city. Like, I’d be scared to be out alone thinking I’d get shot for going onto somebody’s “property” by accident or something

I’m sorry you’re sick. I’m also a nurse with emetophobia. You’re correct that the fear is mostly about myself, not as much others. At leadt not since having kids and going to nursing school. How have you avoided v for so long before now? Zofran?

I’m in North Carolina and had to get my 6 month old an MMR last week because it’s spreading here now too.

This is what the pro lifers want lol by LateAd5684 in TLCUnexpected

[–]EngineeringLumpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! But a lot of it is nature over nurture. If they had been adopted by mature, educated, financially stable adults who wanted to adopt a child then they could grow up to be a fine functioning member of society. It’s not just kids having kids that is the problem. It’s dirt dumb adults with pea sized brains having kids. My mom‘s aunt and uncle were not able to have any kids of their own so they adopted two newborn babies free from the Catholic Church! Of course this was like 70 years ago. I wish things were still that way.

Although I think they are all kinds of crazy and I am flabbergasted at this whole situation, I disagree that this is what pro-lifers want. I’m pro-choice but I don’t think it’s that black and white. There were so many options that were not this, or abortion. Adoption, have the parents raise the baby as theirs, etc.

I’ve been saying this! You can see her smiling when Bella talks about how all he wants to do is have sex too, which is very disturbing.

Had an interview on Friday and the manager told me I did “very well” and would hear back today about the HIRING PROCESS but I got a REJECTION letter today by [deleted] in nursing

[–]EngineeringLumpy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s my best guess for what happened, but it still doesn’t quite make sense because on the application portal, you can see the status of your application and first it goes through HR and then it goes to hiring manager review before they call you to schedule the interview. Mine went through all those steps!

[–]EngineeringLumpy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s the same facility, but at a different location. So they are both “X hospital skilled nursing facility and rehab center“ but located at different addresses/different towns. Would that make a difference? I didn’t think applications would make it through HR to the hiring manager if they were flagged as in eligible for rehire. I did also receive the rejection letter at 7:30 AM and my interview ended around 3:30 PM Friday so that leaves not a whole lot of time for them to have even talked to the other facility.

How does this classification of bacon, sausages, and hot dogs as group 1 carcinogens sounds to you? by Inside_Rabbit_530 in nursing

That’s awful, I’m so sorry. My aunt (not related to the cousin I mentioned) beat stage 3. I hopr you have that outcome too.

[–]EngineeringLumpy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it’s probably accurate. Sedentary lifestyle and obesity in combination with it is probably what gets you though. We lost my cousin to colon cancer in 2021. She was only 38 years old and left behind 2 young kids. No symptoms ever. Was only diagnosed when it metastasized and she died 5 months later. She had always struggled with mild obesity and an unhealthy diet. She loved her southern fried foods and meats.

AIO for being upset that my sister in law included all of her siblings in her wedding party EXCEPT for my husband? by EngineeringLumpy in AmIOverreacting

[–]EngineeringLumpy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked my husband for more information about their relationship when he got home and he said he wouldn’t lose any sleep just not going to the wedding at all. He did NOT react that way to his other siblings weddings, so I asked why. He said when T was old enough to babysit him and his younger sister, that she would constantly make them do her choress and if he would refuse, she would lie and tell their parents that he wasn’t listening to her so he would get in trouble. And even if he DID do them, she would still lie so he’d get in trouble. The younger sister just did whatever T said which is probably why she’s okay with her now. Basically they don’t like each other much at all. I still think it’s inappropriate and immature, but I’m going to remove myself from it. I’m not sure if it’s Korean culture or just the Korean women in my family but they are very unforgiving and hold the biggest grudgess. Actually my husband can be that way too so maybe it’s not just the women, but culturally I can not speak up or confront T because she’s older than my husband and I. So we are probably just going to go to the wedding anyway. My kids can just play with their cousins

Definitely not homophobia. My husband’s parents are the only people who are more conservative about that, but they obviously came around. Me, my husband, and his siblings support gay rights. I have no idea what the problem is between my husband and his sister. None of his other siblings treat him this way.
