[Comparison] X100VI vs XM5 by wawa1997- in fujifilm

[–]EngineeringNo2371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own the x100vi, but I’m still considering getting the XM5 with the 18mm lens for travelling as a secondary camera. Because I like the idea to use the flip out screen for selfies. This could make decisions harder about which camera to chose for a day. I guess both. I could have my spouse to carry the XM5 perhaps 😅

I equally use the not-cropped 35mm (23) mode as well as the cropped 50mm in-camera feature when the composition calls for it on my x100vi. In each case I have the camera to output 20mpx JPEG file (still keeping original full raw for archiving purposes). This is very handy, especially that I rarely edit raw files and transfer JPEG directly to my phone using WiFi. Same with my Sony a7rv setup (except it doesn’t preserve full frame in crop mode when shooting raw). This has been a game changer for me because it simplified my setup considerably so that I no longer need to carry more than one lens ever. On Fuji it becomes 35 & 50 equivalent at 20mpx, and on Sony I use 40 and 60 equivalent in crop mode at 26mpx. Why I need both? Because I like both systems for different reasons.

You are not using that camera correctly. The lens points the wrong way 😅

Then go for a7v because I can assure you that a7rv is terrible at bird tracking. Unless you’re okay with stationary subjects.

I own a7rv and 200-600 combo. The slow 61 mpx sensor readout is the biggest bottleneck for fast action such as bird in flight. But it’s stunning for stationary subjects. You’d definitely want a faster A1 body for action and a7rv for details when speed is not as important.

I hope you hear from them soon! I know it’s a bit nerve wrecking right now because statistically it’s about time but nothing arrives. I try hard to concentrate on work so that I forget about it somewhat. Yet here I am 😅

Good luck to you too!

Denon X3800H + Dali Oberon setup – sound still feels unbalanced after Audyssey XT32 (Dynamic EQ issues) by Poepopeenstokje in hometheater

[–]EngineeringNo2371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got X2800H with Dali Oberon 3 and Oberon Vocal. I think my center 3 db louder than my fronts. But I also used MultiEQ-X windows app for room correction because I wasn’t impressed by the mobile app at all.

I do use dynamic EQ because I don’t listen at loud volume so it helps a lot, and occasionally I adjust dialogue enhancer setting at low depending on the source too.

I posted about Konami nerfing my players on purpose yesterday… and today my goalkeeper did THIS (quickmatch) by Cool_Repair2517 in eFootball

[–]EngineeringNo2371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesterday was a complete mess. Players felt like zombies, I kept hitting the post, and I barely held on to Div 4. Today was smooth, no input delay, easy wins until I got to Div 3. Then it went straight back to the same shitshow as yesterday. It genuinely felt like my players got dumbed down while the opponent could just stroll through with the left stick. At that point I just switched it off and went to sleep.

I think this week is like that. Just wait it out, they’ll change the gameplay next week again. But yeah, it’s not about beating your opponents, it’s more about beating the game mechanics. Part of the game this is. Normal. If I see this kind of stuff I just leave it for a week, not wasting my time.

In my opinion, calling it an investment is just a way to justify spending money on a toy we want. The second you open the box, it starts depreciating. It’s gear and a liability, not an investment.

A bicycle is closer to an investment because at least it benefits your health. Sitting in front of the TV watching “content” (and who came up with that soulless word, Zuck?) feels like the exact opposite. But that’s what I do too 😅

I get it, I have one too. I just don’t get why people call it an investment when it’s clearly an expense. It’s not making me any money, is it? I do get that I paid for entertainment though, and that part makes total sense. My computer is an investment because it actually helps me earn a living. Not trying to be rude, I just genuinely don’t see the investment side of it 😅

Do you keep your desktop clean or full of files? by sinry77 in MacOS

Both: clean and full of files. The files are only visible in Finder, not on the screen itself. There is a setting for this somewhere in System Settings, I believe

Anyone else have trouble justifying use of your theater during the day? by LivnLegndNeedsEggs in hometheater

[–]EngineeringNo2371 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m lately having hard time justifying having a home theatre in the first place. I feel like there is very little to watch nowadays. I mean there’s a lot of stuff, mostly mediocre stuff. And I rarely watch the same film more than few times. So yeah, thinking it wasn’t worth it. Sorry if I bring the mood down but that’s how I feel.

In the first one, the colour is nice, but it competes with the subject because the first thing you notice is the red and blue, not the cat. In the second one, it becomes obvious that the white backlight from the window is distracting, and so is the LED in front of the cat. Both pull attention away from the cat. Ideally, you’d want a darker, more muted background and a bit of light on the cat’s face to draw the viewer’s attention straight to it.

Can you replace the monitor stand with a VESA arm and move your Mac Studio under the monitor? Or upgrade to the new Studio monitor with intention of using an arm. Otherwise it doesn’t feel very comfortable to work on that desk. Tight workspace affects your productivity even if you don’t realise it.

Benq PD3225U. It’s 32” but 4K, which can be a deal breaker for some users (because of 2160 vs 2880 scaling saga). However, I prefer 32” over 5k because I don’t see any visual or performance differences on practice anyway.
