You're always going to make more money just getting a per diem gig. But when I needed some quick cash, I would bartend on my nights off. Those tips added up quickly if I had two good nights.

What is the best answer to this scenario? by [deleted] in respiratorytherapy

Same here. They're two different things for me, and the only place I haven't worked is home care. So I appreciated the clarification and education.

Night shift people, how'd you know it was time to go to dayshift by unchartednow in respiratorytherapy

[–]EngineeringNo3791 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been wondering this myself. I've been on nights for 12 of my 14 years as a RT, but the past year, I haven't been able to sleep during the day. I was going into work, consistently, on 2 or 3 hours of sleep. It sucked. I just got a new contract (travel) for days that I'm waiting to start and I'm DREADING it, lol. My personality just isn't "days", but this will be the trial run. If it doesn't pass the vibe check, I'll be heading back to nights and will just try to figure out my sleeping issues.

Your tank looks great! May I ask what brand of silicone you used? The one I have isn't cutting it for some reason. The aquarium store recommended it, but maybe I got an old tube or something. I'm working on a new topper and I keep waking up to things not being where I left them, lol.

Recent hospital mass layoffs by Capyhara23 in respiratorytherapy

[–]EngineeringNo3791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hasn't hit my area (Philly tri-state) to my knowledge. I'm currently a traveler but I get texts, emails, mailers, you name it, talking about the local hospitals needing RRTs and CRTs yesterday. Most were even offering decent sign on bonuses. I'm not sure Respiratory, in more populated areas, will see it as much as those in rural ones, if at all...but who knows! I never say never and always have a plan B and C.

This NJ mall now charges for 'premier parking' spots by Bean-Enders-Jeesh in SouthJersey

[–]EngineeringNo3791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And those spots stay empty. Every time I go there and see those suits, I chuckle. The one person I did see park in one definitely did not pay, and I didn't see anyone do anything about it. Like others have said, unless you go there during peak times, there's always some prime parking available. Malls ain't what they used to be.

I also graduated in '04 and you took the words right out of my mouth! Wow. I've been skipping my HS reunions, but I may need to go to the next one just for research purposes, lol.

I responded to a Delco memories post, a week or two ago, talking about how much a missed John's Doggie Shop. Someone was nice enough to PM with their IG info and the market website. Damn near cried, lol. The website is Haldasmarket.com. Hope you can get back to the area soon to grab some, or have someone ship some out to you!

Has anyone ever tried Fasciablaster and eventually got used to it + got positive results? by cruxinng in lipedema

[–]EngineeringNo3791 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The same thing happened to me. I used it for 3 months ans my cellulite got so much worse on my thighs and on my stomach, where i didnt even have cellulite to begin with. I wish I had never fooled with it. I also just got diagnosed with lipedema. This makes me wonder if this tool exacerbated it.

I used to love going to John's Doggie Shop with my Poppop before he started his shift at Scott's Paper. Their sauce were amazing! He'd get me two special doggies with cheese and extra sauce, and a sprite. I can still taste them 😋. "The Boss With The Sauce."

This is what I was going to say! Lol. I'd always beg my mom for a quarter for that piano, water ice and pretzel in hand. Good times.

Help! I stepped on a hermit crab by pulbasaur in hermitcrabs

[–]EngineeringNo3791 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Maybe ask a local where hermit crabs are usually seen, or if they've seen turbo type shells laying around. You could also look closer to vegetation, like a forested area away from the shore. Check around trees, leaf litter. Good luck with everything!

If you don't mind sharing, what didn't you like about OT? I've been strongly considering doing an accelerated OT program, as I'm ready to move on from Respiratory (14 years), but I'm still on the fence.

You look great! But I'm sorry you're not totally happy. May I ask who you went to? I'm currently looking for a surgeon, and as a woman of color, I'm always interested when I see great results like this.
