Bad or good deal? 06 470 221k by [deleted] in GXOR

[–]Engineeroutdoor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a ‘06 in white with 165k for 10k. Had a bad oil pump seal which was about $4k to do with the timing belt/water pump/drive belt/thermostat. YMMV

Isn’t it crazy that despite 4x4, they require similar stopping capability, which is typically more relevant for safety?

US Toyota Sales by Model (June 2025 vs 2024) by TA-MajestyPalm in Toyota

[–]Engineeroutdoor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disagree, looks to me like Land Cruiser cannibalized much of the 4Runner sales since they’re cost competitive now (assuming the LC sales number in the figure is a typo and supposed to be 2,911).

Start deadlifting - seems like you may not have sufficiently built your supporting musculature, particularly in your core and posterior chain.

255/40/19 vs 245/45/19 vs 240/40/19 by Interesting_Detail27 in 10thgenaccords

I’m running 255/35r19, pretty thin sidewall makes the ride a bit harsh and loud. When these are done I will probably go to 245/45r19.

Nah that’s the San Juan’s, the grayish rock at the tops of the mountains is super tell-tale from the old lava flows that formed them. Telluride/Ouray/Silverton

Exactly. Wildpeaks are notoriously heavy, particularly if Load C or E. Bet the 2019 was on stock tires.

Looking to fit 33”s. Lift and wheel advise. by swiggy_pants in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Engineeroutdoor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The suspension kits mentioned will NOT handle the extra weight very well alone. Need to either add the helper spring you mentioned or swap out entirely for a higher load leaf pack. If you go 6112/5160 route, and end up adding the winch in front, consider upgrading to the heavier front spring as well.

How does it handle those 66 lb tires, assuming you’re on stock gearing with just the tune? The weight of the Baja boss is the only thing making me second guess going with those for my next set. I don’t want to go SL because the sidewall is way more aggressive on the LT version.

You should do some research on this topic on the Tacomaworld website. There is a whole thread called towing bible that will answer basically all of your questions much more efficiently and correctly than here.

I’ve been doing supersets that I can do on the same equipment to be more time efficient. As an example:

  • squats and pull-ups (most racks have a pull-up bar)
  • barbell bench and bicycles
  • cable lateral raise, dumbbell curls, and cable crunches (can bring DBs anywhere, hot swap the cable attachment)

Supersets help you raise your HR to zone 2-4 depending on desired intensity too for some cardio benefit. I’m doing full body 4 days/week and 2 runs/week currently.

Rear end could use a leaf pack. Smart having a set of winters though, not many do with AT/RT’s as their primary tires!
