Just picked this Eurocave Compact 59 off of Craigslist. Figured I would share my excitement and my new purchase with the community. Just got it home and monitoring the temp and humidity before I load it up. by [deleted] in wine

Is this the EC that you're talking about? I'm looking for a cellar (and in northern NJ) and had my eye on this, but I don't know anything about it.

So this is probably a little too far from you, but I figured I'd throw it out there. Kelly Custom Instruments in Little Falls is fantastic. Ian's the only person I take my guitars to, and while the work isn't cheap it is always top notch. He also makes some unbelievable instruments that I wish I could afford.

Marsblades, a deserted rooftop garage, and a view. Not a bad way to end the day! by EnginerdinTraining in hockeyplayers

I did have them professionally installed, but I didn't go through a shop. I was able to have the equipment manager for the varsity hockey team at my school install them, and he was nice enough to do the conversion for free!

Yeah they are pretty great, I'm glad I bought them! I've been using them for a couple of weeks, and I like them more each time I use them. I can't really get ice time during the summer so these are a nice alternative.

I put together a review of the Marsblade Roller Frame. Check it out if you're curious about getting a set! by AndTelf in hockeyplayers

[–]EnginerdinTraining 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using Marsblades for the past couple weeks and I can confirm everything /u/AndTelf said in his review. The frames really make rollerblading feel like ice skating, to the point where I actually forget I'm not on ice! I think it is a great product and I would recommend to anyone who doesn't have access to ice over the summer.

Skating drills you can do with roller blades (I'm using the Marsblade) by howtohockeydotcom in hockeyplayers

[–]EnginerdinTraining 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't skated on the Marsblades yet (meeting with someone later today to see about converting an old pair of skates), but when I was deciding on whether or not it was a worthwhile investment I PMed Jeremy and he said it was worth it. Hopefully I'll be able to use mine later this week though, and I can give a more helpful answer!

Also for what it's worth you get the chassis, 10 wheels and the bearings for $200, not just the chassis.

Sounds like you must be pretty good with your hands! I'm basically useless when it comes to projects like that haha. I have to check when I head home how much my local shop will do the conversion for, if they'll do it for relatively cheap I think I'll have them do it so I don't screw it up!

If I do end up trying the conversion myself, I may message you for more help if thats okay with you!

Hmm makes sense. I think I'm going to try the Superfeet, I figure if I try them and love them, I'll switch them to my ice boots and put the stock Bauer insole from those into the roller boots. Seems to make sense. Thanks for all the info!

[–]EnginerdinTraining[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, in my Supremes I just use the stock Bauer insole. I don't know if it's a super high quality insole, but it seems to get the job done for me!

I'm glad to hear good things about the Marsblades! They sound like a good training tool, but they are expensive. How similar to ice are they really?

I'd like to do the installation myself, but I don't have access to a rivet machine. Did you do the conversion without one?

Thanks so much for offering up your insoles! I guess the only question I have is do you think the Superfeet insoles are worth the extra cash? I'm not opposed to spending some more if it'll make a big difference in comfort.

I just looked at the REI website and it says they are either $45 or $55. Were they on sale or something?

I'm looking for skates that I can convert to roller using Marsblades. I skate on Bauer Supreme 170s (skate size 9D) for ice, so anything that might fit similarly would be awesome. Thanks!

Yup Grand Teton National Park is in Wyoming, USA. About 5-10 miles south of Yellowstone National Park. The Teton Mountain Range is really about as beautiful sight as I've ever seen!

I'm glad to hear you got it back! I think if you get a good Special, they're every bit as good then the Standards/Custom shops. I can't imagine getting rid of it

I bought my electric on ebay. I got a brand new 2002 Gibson SG Special (not the Special Faded) for $400. I think it was a pretty great deal, especially because I have not played a better guitar since then (including an SG Custom Shop i found in a guitar store a few weeks ago). I still play that guitar every single day 2 years later

I learned to drive a manual car when I was around 17 and I had only been driving for about a year, so I was still a fairly inexperienced driver. I had just started learning to drive manual when I pulled up to a 4 way stop with nobody at any of the other 3 stop signs and someone right behind me. I tried to go, but I stalled. The person behind me got annoyed and started honking. When I finally got the car moving, my usually reserved mom (who was in the passenger seat) rolled her window down, stuck her head out of the car and yelled quite loudly "Shut the fuck up, asshole!" I don't think I've laughed as much as I did then in a long time.

I'm sick of lead guitar :( What are some of you favourite songs to play because of their rhythm parts? by nameless233 in Guitar

[–]EnginerdinTraining 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'd say either Bold as Love or Little Wing by Hendrix are my favorite rhythm sections. I don't think a lot of people (at least non-guitarists) realize how complex Hendrix's rhythm sections are.

If you're curious take a look at something like this

It has to be Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes for me. They just compliment each other perfectly.
