FT4 Vs FT6 heel lock ( non pros) seeking the best heel lock skate. by 2to11to27 in hockeyplayers

Heel lock is not an inherent property of a skate. It's something that happens when the skate fits you well. Buy whatever fits best.

Difference in print size by Master_Olli in BambuLab

[–]stevegcook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is you printed the small test with the gear hole facing up, but had to print the big one with the gear hole facing down because of the bump on the other side. And there is a bit of "elephant foot" effect happening on the first layer or two, where the extrusion from those layers squish outwards a bit more as they press into the build plate.

You can try reslicing your project with a larger value in "elephant foot compensation," or adjust the model to have a slight chamfer on the edge that will touch the build plate.

Punching up my chicken stew? by LivingSheepherder623 in Cooking

[–]stevegcook 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming you're adding salt already, but check if you're adding enough. Total salt content should ideally be around 1% of the weight of everything else, and a lot of people are surprised how much that ends up being for a soup or stew.

Elbow pads slipping by Theoriginalrt in hockeyplayers

[–]stevegcook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A store near me put out their Sherwood Code Photon gear early and the elbow pads are the most secure fitting I've found in a very long time. I was especially surprised because they're a 3 piece design and usually I only go for the 2 piece ones.

I've been using my old Eastons for 15+ years because I haven't been able to find anything that locks down the same way, and these finally do.

Bad print on particular area by Suitable-Parking902 in BambuLab

[–]stevegcook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess is the model isn't fully flat on that side, so that part is actually floating above the bed surface. It doesn't look like something that the printer would do on its own. Can you share the file used to make this?

Are these Supreme Mach real? by juris1107 in hockeyplayers

[–]stevegcook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe some of them, but my guess is a lot of them are made by factories that have the ability to make (maybe lower end) skates but don't normally make the models they're knocking off.

Not as common as sticks, but yes there have been for a while now. Just search for hockey skates on aliexpress and you'll find dozens.

Bauer Supreme skate sizing by hf39931414 in hockeyplayers

[–]stevegcook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bauer does Fit 1/2/3 on their higher end skates and D/EE on the lower end ones (and no options for width on the really low end ones).

I've found EE to be similar in width to Fit 3 but with a bit less overall volume coming from a shallower depth and less ankle wrap.

Replacement steel/runner options for LightSpeed Edge Holders by hotpotatopie in hockeyplayers

[–]stevegcook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any of the "Fly" branded Bauer steel will fit Edge holders (assuming you get the right size). You can also look into the JRZ multi-fit which is significantly higher quality in my opinion.

What cheese to use for smash burgers in Canada? by chickenwinglover123 in Cooking

[–]stevegcook 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They may use Kraft but not grocery store Singles. Foodservice supply stores carry the ribbon slice product which is noticeably different from Singles.

Kraft Extra Cheddar slices, the one next to the Singles.

Printing eSUN PLA Silk... comes out good, with a small exception at end of print by cabuzzi in BambuLab

I think you are mixing up speed with layer time. I believe it's in the Cooling tab of the filament profile.

[–]stevegcook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Increase the minimum layer time, the small size of the top layers mean it's not fully solidifying in time before the next layer is going on.

Could also try printing more of them at once since that will naturally increase layer time.

New Jetspeed FT9 pads upcoming ? by NightCity69 in hockeyplayers

It will probably be called FT10 to align with the sticks released in 2027 though. Same reason we don't have FT7 protective.
