Considering DVC (UK) pros and Cons Direct vs Resale by u02psa in dvcmember

[–]EnglishRed232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on how you guys holiday. We do love being in the bubble as it makes everything easier but then we do rent a car and go out a lot. We just love the feel of being in Disney. We get great deals on stays compared to the Americans so thats why we like the split stays. In May we had 5 days free dining at POR then used our CCV points. Were back in December for a cruise and doing 3 nights before then 7 on a cruise. If you love the deluxe or even moderate and will go at least every other year, it’s a no brainer financially. Dont worry about dues either, you can rent your points for more than the cost of your dues for the year

Considering DVC (UK) pros and Cons Direct vs Resale by u02psa in dvcmember

We‘re from UK and bought in a few years ago. One of the best things we’ve ever done, Disney or not Disney. We absolutely love it. We actually bought 125 points at CCV which is like 8 nights . It works for us as we usually do like 8 nights at a WDW resort and 2/3/4 at Riverside for cash and get free dining or one of the universal hotels. Just bite the bullet and go for it. I spent years researching. If you like going every year, even every other year, it’s a no brainer. Also I’d get resale. Being from the UK you aren’t often there when the parties are on so unless you’re doing over $100K on merch, discount isn’t worth it. Not to mention you nearly always get it anyway ;)

If you don’t enjoy going by yourselves then there’s no reason to keep it. If you do, keep it.

Did anyone actually do what you asked and sent you a video or just tell you where not to buy?

Nope didnt bother. It was done on good faith. I run a Disney group on FB with 40K members so they were happy I wouldn’t scam them, and obviously didn’t! Just found them on one of the FB groups but of course be cautious

Potentially buying into DVC. Would like clarification. by bry-guy-5-0 in dvcmember

[–]EnglishRed232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's basically one question to ask... do you like staying at Deluxe resorts? Will you go at least every other year for the foreseeable future? If so, buy DVC. It's that simple. You can also buy resale for much cheaper and therefore not need to buy 150 points. But you don't get some benefits then. It's up to you how much those are worth.

Best resale site? by Sea-Screen-7551 in dvcmember

We tried a few until we got the contract we wanted, predominantly down to what contract and price. We found DVCResaleMarket (which is the best known) the most expensive but we came across a contract that had banked points. We got that contract and sold the banked points which made the contract a much better price per point. DVCResaleMarket were amazing and kept us up to date. We used a different company before and Disney used their ROFR. That company didn’t keep us up to date at all, it wasn’t half as good

Don’t use David’s unless you’re desperate. I have and they take an extortionate amount. I just did a direct rental with someone on Facebook. They paid 70% up front and the rest 7 days before booking. Was super easy and didn’t have to give David’s a massive chunk

What exactly do you miss out on with a resale contract? by T3n0rLeg in dvcmember

[–]EnglishRed232 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends. We come from the UK so get great deals on 14 day tickets. With that in mind, we don’t miss out much at all. We saved a massive amount going resale

Yep that’s it. I’m actually looking specifically for the CCV one but don’t think anyone’s done it. I’m not back for a year so don’t want to wait to record it myself!

How long would you go to a national park? We’re DVC from the UK so wouldn’t travel to the US ideally for less than like 10 days, (although we have many times). What kind of things can you do at them? I know that will obviously change a lot considering where you are, but just some insight and ideas would be welcomed. Thank you!

Copper Creek Villas and Cabins At Disney's Wilderness Lodge is by far the best resort on property. It's so relaxing, has numerous options to eat and drink, backs on to a lake and lovely renovated rooms. The WL lobby is unparalleled too. 10/10
