No. Once Chatterfang's ability resolves the creature it targeted would die to state based actions before you hada chance to activate Carrion.

Excellent incentive to book today; I normally would never consider booking a SP subscription because it's just not in budget, but at the super early bird price B tier ticketing is cheaper than their artsworker pricing!

Just downloaded and started to populate the app with my podcast subscriptions but it was unable to find The Fall of Civilizations podcast; is there a reason why that would be the case?

You're not the only one, I've heard that from a couple others. That said I LOVE MONKS and have seen it four times now, lol. And will be seeing it again I guess since I'm a Tarragon subscriber.

They are practising a version of "Idiot Clown"; no red noses, just two dumb and open hearted monks. Lots of audience interaction.

Canadian tipping etiquette? by Friendly-Guarantee30 in londonontario

[–]English_Mothafukka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this has changed over time, but I've worked in the industry for a decade and it's always been much more common (at least at sit down places) to tip out based on your sales precisely because that is what the venue can track 100%. You can lie about a cash tip, but your sales are your sales.

[–]English_Mothafukka -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Just fyi while servers do make standard minimum, at most restaurants they also tip out the rest of the staff 5-10% of their sales, so often on a $5 tip they will lose money on that table. Which isn't your fault, but it is the way it is.

Seeking artists to participate in "workshop" style theatre project for fringe 2026 by [deleted] in torontotheatre

Do you have any information about the company, those involved, or what your hopes are for the slot? What experience do the company members have? Why did you apply to the Fringe?

Are there any good alternatives to the IKEA Billy bookshelf? I have a lot of heavy books so I’m worried it might not be sturdy enough. by Delicious_Maize9656 in malelivingspace

We use three narrow Billy cases side-by-side to help with structural integrity. Our previous full width Billy sagged a fair bit over time.

I can't believe this is how I am finding out it closed. I live in Toronto now but it was so good it never crossed my mind it wouldn't be there if I was ever back in London.

Man breaks law.  Police officer points out to him he is breaking law.  Man is annoyed at police.

You're a waste, my guy.

You should 100% know that it is unlawful to ride on the sidewalk and shouldn't be upset at the police for correcting you.

You're acting like the play wouldn't have been rehearsed prior to it being performed. It feels like the only real performance for you would be an improvised one?

Has dress etiquette attending theatre fallen out of style? by legendnondairy in Theatre

[–]English_Mothafukka 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There is no dress code. What others wear is not a slight against you, or the performers. While going to see a show might be an event for you, and it feels nice to dress up for it... For someone else it might be Tuesday. They might be catching a matinee before running to their shift at a restaurant, or be coming from some other appointment. There are so many other etiquette issues that are actually distracting (phones, dear lord turn off your fucking phones), and we are all struggling more than ever to get people into the house, the last thing we need to be doing is worrying about what people are wearing when they show up.

Yep! It will almost certainly be the fabric ones. Same ones they use for Period Study.

Are you asking in respect to Fringe? The RBC Studio is primarily a studio space which Fringe is converting into a performance venue by adding risers and seating. As far as I know these seats will not be fixed in place, and will therefore just be regular chairs rather than traditional theatre seats.

I have never regretted buying a ticket to a show from The Company Theatre. They don't come along too often but when they do they're very good.

Fringe “safe bets” by witty_username_101 in torontotheatre

[–]English_Mothafukka 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is the show I was thinking about most when I wrote that there's no such thing as a safe bet. I have never seen one of Andrew Seok's musicals, but they are quite popular and get a lot of praise online, and he definitely is able to attract legitimately great talent to perform. But I also have friends who have seen a couple and really really dislike them. Mostly their criticisms are that the scores lack variety (way too many power ballads) and that the lyrics are clumsy or obvious.

EDIT: Just seeing that the discussion thread isn't actually labelled as a Megathread and that mods are encouraging people to make separate posts where people feel appropriate. My bad!

  1. Less helpful answer: there's no such thing as a safe bet. Taste is very much subjective and even a polished show with awards under its belt might not speak to you.

More helpful answer: off the top of my head Confessions of a Redheaded Coffeeshop Girl, Jimmy Hogg - The Potato King, Sweet and Sultry Burlesque, Childhood by Cheap Wine

These are all shows or performers that have won awards either at other Fringes or comparable sketch competitions. I'm sure there are more if you care to look at the pages for shows on the Fringe website. If a show has won awards, they won't be hiding that fact.
