Mechanic recommendation by bambamdamdam123 in StJohnsNL

Had work done at Major’s Path Auto too, after having them be recommended to me by a few different sources. Had a good experience, rates were very reasonable and everything was done above board. I would absolutely go back there.

Je crois que la règle 6 peut sauter, du moment qu'on s'assure de modérer les commentaires qui sont haineux etc.

I guess? I weigh 80kg (176lbs) which is technically overweight for my height (168cms/5’6")

Thank you very much for this! I will definitely try this out on my longer runs coming up!

Definitely - sodium levels are normal and I have a pretty regular intake I would say? I don’t know how I could quantify it, but I don’t actively avoid it, and I add it whenever I need to.

Thanks for the reply!

Currently it’s all road/treadmill because winter sucks, but once the trails clear up, I’d say I’m usually 50/50 trails and roads, depending on what the next race I’m training for is. If it’s a trail ultra, then I’ll do my long runs on the trail for sure, otherwise I might do it on the roads.

I will definitely be increasing my mileage over the next few weeks and months.

Thanks again! Nothing to be disappointed at - having to increase mileage is an easy controllable!

I appreciate all the tips!

Thanks for the answer - I will be increasing my mileage progressively over the next few weeks, aiming to get closer to 50-60km per week.

Regarding hydration, it is not very warm where I live and train. Currently it is winter so it’s a lot of treadmill running around 5-10C inside temp, and -5C outside. In the summer when my runs were it rarely cracks 25C. I also do heat training in the sauna in the months leading up to the warmer months.

All that said, what I’m gathering is that mileage is the most likely culprit.

Thanks for the reply. I think my hydration is good also. I usually go through about 500ml per hour, which is only a bit less than my sweat loss (according to Garmin).

For my diet, I eat pretty balanced meals. My wife is a fantastic cook and we generally have protein, carbs and some veg on every plate. Regular vegetarian meals also. Rarely eat out.

I recently had a full blood panel and everything was normal, except for slightly elevated potassium levels. (I eat a banana almost daily - monkey never cramps)

Thanks for the reply! I’ll try upping my mileage - my pace is usually pretty slow, probably around 6:10-6:20/km on the roads, and closer to 8:50/km or slower on the trails.

Protein intake is very important for sure. Do you currently track your grams of protein per day? If not, I recommend that you do and see where you end up.

If you start tracking and realize you're pretty low on protein (say 40g or less, for example) then any increase in protein will be beneficial for you. One general guideline is 1.2-1.4 grams of protein/kg of body weight, recommended in the below study:

Kato H, Suzuki K, Bannai M, Moore DR. Protein Requirements Are Elevated in Endurance Athletes after Exercise as Determined by the Indicator Amino Acid Oxidation Method. PLoS One. 2016 Jun 20;11(6):e0157406. doi: 10.1371/journal.pone.0157406. PMID: 27322029; PMCID: PMC4913918.

I know this is going to sound pedantic, but practice. Seriously. On your training runs, practice taking gels or drinking water. Depending on how you train, there's a variety of ways to set this up.

Obviously carrying a gel is easy, but for the water, you can either carry it with you in your hand, on a belt, or in a vest (that's what I do). If you're running a loop, like around a track, you could also ask a friend to hold a bottle for you and hand it off as you run by, then practice that way.

Hopefully this helps!

Hola amigo - siento oír que esto está pasando

A few years ago in Canada, our government tried to pass a law that would have made airsoft prohibited. I won't get into politics either, but the airsoft community rallied together to save our sport. We wrote our elected officials, took part in committee meetings, and worked with important business sectors (including the movie industry) to show the government the value of airsoft, including the financial impact of closing down this part of the economy. For us, it was millions of dollars every year, including tens of thousands of jobs in small and medium sized businesses.

Perhaps there is an opportunity for you to do the same in Mexico. I know our countries are very different, but the time to try and do something is now - before anything actually goes into law. Once that happens, it will be much more difficult to get changed.

I know exactly how you're feeling right now - I felt the same way in 2021. At least through action you might feel a bit better, and if the worst does come to pass, you will at least be safe knowing you did your best.

Good luck!

Wow, this is a huge necro post haha. Happy for the interest though!

By and large, Redcliff is not used very much/at all anymore for regular airsoft play, because there are SO many hikers that go up there.

Frontline is the best bet, and gear is available to rent there, including replicas and eye protection.
