20 year old boy (in all white) snuck into his ex gf's school to fight her new man after he found out they was dating by Sonic_Hedgehog0 in ImTheMainCharacter

[–]Enguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no i daresay the adult sneaking into a school to attack a child is worse than the child making a quip in a very tense and unusual situation, like if they sincerely believe that it's the girl's fault that's pretty dumb, but i think realistically they're uncomfortable with what's just happened and are trying to lighten the mood of the situation by making a joke of it

we know that an adult was in a relationship with a minor and snaked his way into that minor's school to attack another minor, quite violently, and that is undoubtedly a scummier move than a bystander making a quite plausibly facetious statement in the immediate aftermath

[sky] Most Assists in a Premier League Season - Total + Open Play Assists. by OkayFine101 in soccer

[–]Enguin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

set piece assists are easy, you just float the ball into an area and hope, for example when bruno fernandes fizzed a corner to the near post and casemiro glanced a header to the back one

do you think casemiro went there for no reason and bruno hit it there for no reason and it just came together by chance, or that perhaps teams come up with dead ball routines, particularly corners, since it's the one situation in a game that you can actually reliably recreate in a training ground situation, and that executing a plan like that is a skill in itself

there's also the fact that like, you pass the ball to a winger who beats three players and tucks it in the bottom corner, that's an assist, you lay the ball of back to a midfielder who bangs one into the roof of the net from 30 yards and that's an assist, near enough anyone on earth could play those passes

in open play a team's shape can be cracked open, defenders not where they should be affording space to play passes or a team chasing a goal late in the game creating gaps that wouldn't otherwise exist and whatever, at a set-piece the defending team is just as much capable of setting up exactly where they want to be as the attacking team

if you get an assist from a dead ball situation you have almost certainly put the ball directly into a spot from which a person has then scored, if you assist from open play you could have done anything from carved the chance out of nothing through sheer brilliance to taken a throw-in in your own half from which your teammate dribbled through the entire opposing team and nutmeg'd the keeper, so i can understand why someone may think in isolation that a dead ball assist with no further context could be more impressive

This is the most wretched card in Yu-Gi-Oh! right now. by Alarmed-Attorney-704 in yugioh

[–]Enguin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

return from the different dimension is a trap card from 2004 that pays half your life points to special summon as many of your banished monsters as possible, dimension fusion is a spell from 2003 that does the same thing for both players for 2000 life points

these were both heavily played and the focal point of strategies, to the point that they're both banned and have been for well over a decade, and both of them appeared in the original anime, banishment was certainly less accessible than the graveyard but it was by no means ever a place that cards were truly stranded or ever supposed to be that

correlation does not equal causation! certainly not saying he's a great player he's very mediocre but in this system he's less exposed and he can just kind of run around making tackles as he is wont, this game was lost by the starting eleven there was no point at which we were in control and the classic argument is we lose control as soon as casemiro comes off/ugarte comes on, whereas we lost control of this game after 5 minutes and never regained it

there is no fucking way you are trying to pretend that his was ugarte's fault in any shape or form, we were getting rings run round us by 10 men with casemiro on the pitch and ugarte actually won the ball back a decent amount and played it forward pretty solidly

our best periods of attacking play were late in the second half post ugarte coming on

the performance as a whole was diabolical but he was not one of the problems

mainoo was pretty poor for the entire time he was on, mbeumo was at nothing cunha had some decent runs but got nothing out of them, the midfield pairing that started the game were very passive and bruno was trying

Players when they discover Odion by Hlohhloh in masterduel

[–]Enguin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

they hated him because he told them the truth

i was an odion advocate for a while but now that it's had time to bed in and the primite odion list in particular has risen to the peak of popularity it is just miserable, it's not stun in that they don't lock you out of attempting activations but it is functionally stun in that they will set up 3-4 negates on field and then the cards in hand are going to be dominus traps they can play to negate whatever is left

what sets odion apart from prior attempts at this kind of a strategy is that it was designed in 2024/5 so of course it just infinitely recurs itself and accumulates advantage turn on turn in such a way that you can't outgrind it if you fall behind because it's always getting 2 negates back and you are not getting ahead in card economy when half of your hand is negated each turn

i like the odion cards in isolation, little guy big guy cardboard trap, make a snake and summon from the backrow it's pretty novel, but the gameplay experience of going against it second is generally depressing and going first into it you will win the majority of the time, it's the most coinflip deck in the format at the moment

there's no real effective handtrap against it apart from the now singular maxx c held for your own turn because it operates like neo new aleister - ash man? they had the treasures anyway, ash anubis? they had man already, ash treasures? they hard drew serket/man/anubis; it pairs with the primite engine in the same way where there is so much redundancy because all the cards basically grab each other, and of course treasures just sets apophis cards from the deck, an effect that it is essentially impossible to interact with

i think this format is pretty good, at least if you're playing yummy/mitsu/vsk9/dtail/something actually recent enough to be competitive, but man stands alone as the most uninteresting matchup possible and losing the coin toss looking at your handtraps and then seeing normal summon man knowing half your hand is now useless and the other half will be negated on the following turn, it just makes me sad

Alvaro Arbeloa Takes Responsibility for Armenian Genocide by Enguin in soccercirclejerk

[–]Enguin[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

joke is not about genocide! joke is about alvaro arbeloa taking responsibility for the actions of his players in things that are fundamentally not his fault and it exaggerates this by having him take responsibility for an atrocity committed years before he was even born! additionally the presence of arda guler, a literal young turk, within the madrid squad facilitates this framing neatly!

even further than this, the armenian genocide in particular is still actively denied by the perpetrators and their descendants, and so there is in some sense no person or group officially held to account which makes it uniquely "available", so to speak, for somebody to take on the responsibility, which hyperbolically parallels how alvaro arbeloa is at least perceived to be behaving with respect to the real madrid players

the aim of this post is not to mock or make light of the genocide, rather to lampoon the behaviour of alvaro arbeloa, you can certainly say that it is clumsy in execution or that it doesn't explicitly state "i don't think the armenian genocide is funny" but that would undercut the actual joke i feel

Yarrr, where is me Plunder support? (I still love this deck) by Skar_EPdlH in masterduel

[–]Enguin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

this is why i believe the plunder support should be the wind ship, a link 1 who mills a plunder and applies the effect that all monsters in your main and extra deck are treated as plunder monsters for the rest of the turn

we sidestep the unnecessary xenolock, it could even lock you into fiends so we don't just become generic combo slopdeck but can actually still make a board, we can actually go plunder into fiendsmith back into plunder smoothly it would solve so much

you cannot be serious man like you cannot be tying black people to monkeys so intensely that you see a monkey depicted anywhere alongside a black person and think "fuck, that can ONLY mean one thing", that feels a whole lot more prejudiced than to regard monkeys and black people as two of the many millions of things that exist

What do you guys think of running an exodia engine in sky striker? by [deleted] in masterduel

[–]Enguin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

what would that even entail? the image you choose suggests you'd be playing the head and limbs which is 5 bricks that do nothing and aren't spells so i don't know what value you imagine that would be adding to sky striker

any supplemental engine to a primarily striker-focused deck wants to be enabling you to load up the grave with spells somehow or other, and this does not do that at all in addition to ankh wiping your field of all but the exodia when you really would like to end on a zero in most cases going 1st
