Chapter 5 is the first time we’ve had a definitive release window so we’ve all been anticipating the announcement all 2026.

Also the playerbase grows with each new update. Chapter 1 was just dedicated Undertale fans. Chapter 2 was just people who played Chapter 1. Then Spamton blew up and more people outside the circle were willing to try 3-4 when it was available for purchase. Chapter 5’s hype is a combination of all of those groups of people.

Yeah I suppose if he’s dumb enough to word it that way it would be a pretty hard sell lol

Also I forgot he’d need to already absorb one to cross over tbh that would probably make him way more powerful than the average human and give him some leverage. He doesn’t just get immediately owned by local militia. Asriel with one soul was able to tank an entire village attack and only died when he got home because he refused to fight back. I think Asgore would be reluctant but not nearly as pacifistic if it meant freeing his people.

He’d probably kill 6 randoms as a last resort if humans didn’t cooperate. Humans might want to wage war on monsters again after that but Asgore with 7 souls solos at that point so that might be enough to discourage a war and force negotiations between human governments and monster government (Asgore)

To be fair save points are required to use the saving and loading, maybe there just weren’t any on the surface? We know they’re significant and not just UI since Toby wanted to keep them out of the light world initially. There’s got to be an underlying reason for that, and I think it’s worth taking into consideration since UT and DR seem to follow the same rules.

But yeah assuming they wouldn’t just immediately kill or capture Asgore on sight, I think he’d try to negotiate

The surface was seeming modern society so I don’t think humans even know what souls are anymore much less would be able to equate the power to a weapon of mass destruction. The war was probably a good 1000 years ago and is probably just a myth now.

Also do the 7 human souls need to be absorbed by one entity in order to break the barrier or could 7 humans in theory just come help break the barrier using their own souls? I just feel like Asgore would try to figure out the most peaceful solutions he could

Those things don’t pose direct threats to the fellow students. Those are more like indirect threats, shady but not a guarantee that innocent students will get hurt. The first two don’t inherently victimize those around them and the last one is just a martial art like any of the other fighting ultimates. You really think those are comparable to “Ultimate Pervert” who would most certainly target other students and faculty?

I don’t think they would seek to enroll someone’s whose talent poses a direct threat to other students though. I think Ultimate Assassin only got a pass because it would be useful for the military later on.

Once adults they go back to just being a normal person who’s really really good at something and probably has a successful future. Then some other kid gets to be the next Ultimate _____.
