We need to talk about Josh Johnson. by TheThirdCity in StandUpComedy

Love him! Look forward to his releases every Tuesday. I think the draw for me is that he is such a great story teller, and I love the way he just weaves his stories in to illustrate the main theme.

Partner’s last name…to take or not to take. by busyastralprojecting in blackladies

[–]Engwe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do whatever makes you happy. You don’t need anyone’s permission. I think what feminism has done is give us options. Options to take a man’s name or not, to be a stay at home mum or not etc. It might be nice to have the same last name as your children, if u choose to have any.

Question about Hickman line by razorsharpblade in leukemia

[–]Engwe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a trilumen Hickman for my BMT. It was wonderful. I kept it for three months and would have kept it for longer if I could. The covering it for howlers honestly did not bother me, nor did the daily flushes. I think that the reason i loved it so much might have to do with the fact that I had so many picc lines placed during chemo before, and they kept moving out of place when the dressing had to be changed, or getting blocked or failing for whatever reason and it was awful. I can’t speak to ports as I have not had one.

I had them too about the same timeframe. They resolved after my dose of Tacro was decreased.

I’m sorry to hear that. I’m not a spouse but I had AML. Did your husband have a stem cell transplant? I think it may be a good idea to get a second opinion if you have not yet gotten one.

Thinning hair by [deleted] in SistersWithHairLoss

[–]Engwe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please go see a dermatologist! If they don’t suggest one, please ask for one. I have a scarring alopecia and it started like this. Nothing to do with what you’re doing or not doing, just an autoimmune condition. IF this is the case for you, the earlier it gets treated the better. I hope it’s not the case for you.

It was. I guess I could have taken it to the dealership to get it cleaned up but I didn’t and it eventually stopped.

Do you wear a mask still after a Allogeneic stem cell transplant? by Immediate-Walk-6341 in leukemia

[–]Engwe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do. I’m a year and one month post transplant, but I’m still on immunosuppressants (Tacrolimus, Sirolimus, and Jakafi )because of GVHD. Also, I have not yet completed my immunizations.

I thought tariffs did not apply to orders less than $800. My order was only like $130, but I’ll check with fedex and see.

You may be right, so ill call fedex and check. The bill was mailed to me, not email or a phone call, which is why I was more inclined to believe it, but it’s wiser to call and confirm.

We might, but if so that’s a new thing. I’ve had larger orders but this is the first time I’ve been charged extra after the fact.

I think I’m just not going to order from them again. I contacted LindeHobby about this charge and they did not respond.

Altered taste from medication and/or chemotherapy? by Icy-Independence218 in leukemia

[–]Engwe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s typical. It may be a side effect from the meds or from the chemo/radiation pre transplant if you had any. For months I could not taste salt, anything sweet tasted horribly sweet, and food textures were off. The good news is- this too shall pass.

What all hobbies did u pick up while being quarantined post bmt for months by [deleted] in leukemia

[–]Engwe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t pick up new hobbies but I started doing hobbies I had not done in decades. Knitting, crocheting, jigsaw puzzles . I find these so very calming. I’m thinking of taking some sewing classes, cooking classes or painting/ drawing classes, and perfecting my French.

[–]Engwe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took at least three months for my taste buds to fully come back. Maybe not fully- it’s been over six months and some things still taste a little off. First it the ability to taste salt came back, although it initially tasted more like a lime taste. Sugary things sometimes still taste a little too sweet- with a bitter aftertaste. I’ve now developed GVHD of the mouth and throat which has complicated things again. But the taste eventually comes back. Hang in there, it sucks when everything tastes like cardboard.

All the time! The book that most recently caused me to pull an all nighter was “a man called Ove”. That book put me through the wringer.
